Lakers News: Lou Amundson Has ‘Good’ Meeting With Lakers

nba_g_amundson_b1_600As the 2013 offseason wears down, the Lakers are preparing for training camp and looking to make the final touches on their roster for the 2013-14 season. The Lakers’s roster itself will have a different look as there have been a handful of new additions to it this summer, but it will be anchored by the veteran leadership of Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Steve Nash.

The Lakers seem to want to make another addition to their roster’s frontcourt. In fact, according to Real GM, the Lakers, along with the Clippers, met with seven-year veteran, Lou Amundson this week.

The Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers were the two teams that Lou Amundson visited this week and discussions went positively with both organizations, agent Mark Bartelstein told RealGM on Friday.

Amundson had met with a couple teams last week and sat down with two more within the past few days, and the 6-foot-9 forward is continuing dialogue with interested teams in hopes of landing a deal soon.

“They were good meetings,” Bartelstein said. “I wouldn’t quite use the word frontrunner right now, but there’s interest, and hopefully we can get something done soon.”

The 30-year-old power forward has struggled to find his fit within a team over the last few seasons. Amundson’s most successful seasons in the past seven years came during his time with the Phoenix Suns (2008-10), under the direction of Nash, where he averaged 4.5 points and 4.0 rebounds in 14.3 minutes per game.

The Lakers are looking to add depth to their frontcourt for next season. Time will tell if Amundson is that additional depth that the Lakers want, and if they become the ninth team the UNLV alum has played for in his career.
