Report: Derek Fisher to Skip Las Vegas League

After reporting this morning that Derek Fisher would be tuning up his game in the Impact Competitive Training Series in Las Vegas this week, it appears as if those reports may have been premature.

ESPN is now reporting that Fisher will indeed be skipping this weeks basketball action, as his duties as head of the players association are superseding his on-court needs.

Fisher was originally going to attempt to play in the Impact Competitive Training Series because of a meeting scheduled to take place in Las Vegas this week, but now it seems as if Fisher will be spending the majority of his time in New York. There is a meeting scheduled for Tuesday in New York that Fisher will attend to discuss the possibilities of agreeing to a new collective bargaining agreement and ending the current lockout.

According to ESPN Fisher is looking to focus on his duties as head of the union rather than his basketball skills.

This news comes after Fisher posted on his Twitter account this morning that rumors of him texting fellow players to be ready for the season were false.
