Nike Unveils Kobe Bryant ‘Superhero’ Inspired Shoes

KOBE_8_SYSTEM_SUPERHEOR_detailKobe Bryant is a main star attraction for Nike. Bryant’s collection of shoes and the multiple colorways that are released throughout the season are highly popular among basketball fans worldwide.

After multiple releases already of the KOBE 8 SYSTEM, Nike recently unveiled that they will be showcasing Kobe Bryant’s (along with LeBron James and Kevin Durant) superhero-like qualities on the court. Following a similar series release last year, Nike will be releasing the “ELITE SERIES 2.0” in time for the postseason.

The “KOBE 8 SYSTEM ELITE” is designed to showcase Kobe Bryant’s deceptive speed on the court, while providing cushioning and support necessary for any superhero basketball player. However, the shoe is green, which is typically a no-no in Laker Land. According to Nike:

Kobe Bryant often showcases the adept speed and precision of his on-court alter ego, the Black Mamba. The KOBE 8 SYSTEM ELITE is inspired by the lethal green pit viper snake and the x-ray vision emitted by its heat-sensing eyes. Bryant stays three steps ahead of his opponent with his keen vision. The KOBE 8 SYSTEM ELITE highlights Bryant’s power of deceptive speed with a poison green colorway and x-ray vision graphic on the collar lining.

The KOBE 8 SYSTEM ELITE incorporates Kobe’s superhero-like skill-set that he has displayed under the bright lights of Los Angeles for seventeen years. These shoes also consist of Kevlar® aramid, carbon fiber and articulated foam to provide the light weight of the shoe, while ensuring stability to the player.

The KOBE 8 SYSTEM ELITE and the entire collection of the ELITE Series 2.0 will be released on April 27 on Nike.com and retail locations. Hopefully, Kobe will be using these shoes to perform some superhero plays during the playoffs, assuming they make it.
