Lakers Video: Jordan Clarkson Walks Away Laughing When Asked If He’ll Miss LaVar Ball After First Cavaliers Practice

All season, Los Angeles Lakers players from Jordan Clarkson to Lonzo Ball himself have been asked about the comments from the latter’s outspoken father, LaVar Ball, whenever his latest controversial statement sparked a media firestorm.

Getting asked about LaVar was presumably something Clarkson would get to leave behind in Los Angeles after the Lakers traded him, along with Larry Nance Jr., to the Cleveland Cavaliers this week in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye and Cleveland’s lottery protected first-round pick.

But it appears the fourth-year guard just can’t fully escape questions about LaVar, even if he heads across the country.

After his first practice with the Cavaliers, Clarkson was asked whether he’d miss LaVar, and his reaction, as captured by Dave McMenamin of ESPN, was priceless:

Clarkson probably had the perfect response here, even if he couldn’t hide his laughter as he practically skipped away.

While Clarkson’s reaction made it obvious that it’s unlikely he’s going to miss getting asked about LaVar Ball, heading out without commenting minimizes the amount of drama and headlines he’d have to deal with if he actually said he wasn’t going to miss LaVar.

The Cavaliers have been an overflowing dumpster fire of drama and defensive ineptitude this season. And while Clarkson has never played for a playoff team before in his NBA career, his response here shows that he’s more than ready to do his part on avoiding distractions that relevant NBA teams tend to do.
