With less than two weeks until the NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Lakers have the 2nd, 27th and 34th picks. While all the attention has been on Karl-Anthony Towns, Jahlil Okafor and D’Angelo Russell, another prospect has emerged for the storied franchise.

After holding his first workout in the United States on Friday, ESPN’s Marc Stein has reported Porzingis’ stock is rising fast and he has given the Lakers ‘something to ponder’ with their pick:

Following his workout, an NBA scout said Porzingis is ‘better’ than Towns and some league executives believe he could ultimately become the best player in this year’s draft. However, Towns remains the safe pick heading into June 25 for the Timberwolves.

With the Minnesota Timberwolves expected to select Towns, there are conflicting reports on who the Lakers will select. While Okafor would be the choice should the Lakers continue their trend of big men, Russell remains in the conversation.

After the worst win percentage in franchise history, the Lakers look to add another key piece to their young foundation of Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson for the post-Kobe Bryant era.
