With the NBA Draft about a week away, the consensus continues to be that the Los Angeles Lakers will take either Jahlil Okafor (Duke) or Karl-Anthony Towns (Kentucky) with the second overall pick. Although Okafor seems to be the safe bet for Los Angeles with the Minnesota Timberwolves more than likely taking Towns, the speculation surrounding international product Kristaps Porzingis has started to make things interesting.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, the Lakers brought in Porzingis for a private workout on Monday:

Every day, front-office fascinations rise with Porzingis. Every day, he’s moving himself closer into contention to become one of the top three picks in the NBA draft on June 25. Los Angeles Lakers officials conducted a workout of Porzingis on Monday night at the franchise’s El Segundo, Calif., practice facility, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Porzingis working out for the Lakers flew under the radar on Monday. It seems as though the organization either kept the workout under wraps or it was a last-minute opportunity and the team jumped on it.

Last week, Porzingis worked out in front of numerous NBA executives in Las Vegas. Porzingis turned a lot of heads during this workout and as a result has skyrocketed up many different mock drafts.

Obviously, the Lakers are intrigued by the versatile Porzingis, but it remains to be seen whether the team is seriously considering drafting him over Towns, Okafor or even Ohio State’s D’Angelo Russell.
