According to Andrew Sharp of Grantland.com, on Sunday, “Swagy P”, as he calls himself, participated in a Drew League game. The Drew League is located in South L.A., and it was established in 1973 to keep troubled youth off the streets. In 1985 a fellow named Dino Smiley took over the league and transformed it into what it is today.

The L.A. native dropped 31 points in his first game this summer at the Drew League. Young was paired on the same team as his good friend, Gilbert Arenas. Nick’s team was trailing 17-6 to start the game, and then “Swagy P” and Arenas a.k.a “Agent Zero” took over the game.

“Agent Zero” began stroking three-pointers and brought their team back into the game. Once Arenas started getting it going, so did Young. Nick “I am Legend” began to hit fade-away threes and slamming the ball home with emphatic dunks. When the third quarter started, Arenas and Young scored 40 of the team’s 47 points, and there was a 27 point turnaround in favor of “Swagy P’s” team. The second half was a barrage of scoring by Arenas and Young, as they traded off baskets and ran up the score.

Even the PA announcer was getting excited.

Announcer: “I AM LEGEND! All he could do was get out the way. Walkin’ away with that stinkface.”

Gilbert finished with a game high, 33 points, and his friend and teammate Nick, finished with 31 points.

The Lakers hope that Young can provide the same type of scoring output and athleticism that he has displayed in the Drew League.
