Lakers News: Mike D’Antoni Purchases Manhattan Beach House

NBA: Golden State Warriors at Los Angeles LakersI guess Mike D’Antoni is feeling secure with his position as the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. Despite fans clamoring for his job, D’Antoni is confident enough in his ability to keep it that he has purchased a home in Manhattan Beach.

According to Lauren Beale of the L.A. Times, D’Antoni will be shacking up in Manhattan Beach after purchasing himself a rather expensive new house.

Now that the Lakers are out of the playoffs, Coach Mike D’Antoni can turn his attention to moving into the house he and his wife, Laurel, just bought in Manhattan Beach for $6.9 million.

Well, at least now that the Lakers are out of the playoffs D’Antoni has plenty of free time to get some interior decorating done.

It’s obviously way too soon to start speculating what this possibly means for D’Antoni’s job security and all that nonsense. In reality, it’s a guy with a multi-million dollar contract buying a new house – not exactly revolutionary. But if D’Antoni had a concerning exit interview with Mitch Kupchak, one in which Mitch said his job would be seriously threatened if he didn’t start next season on a very strong note, he might be a little more hesitant in putting down nearly $7 million for some new digs.
