Kobe Bryant, Dwight HowardThe off-season is in full swing for the Lakers as management awaits free agent center Dwight Howard’s decision. Kobe Bryant has been very vocal recently about the role he’ll play in Howard’s free agency and that he intends to speak to him in beginning and end of the off-season.

Speaking to Stephen A. Smith on ESPNRadio New York, Bryant admitted he’s already opened the lines of communication with Howard:

“I’ve reached out to him already. We’ve talked briefly and I’ll continue to talk to him”

While it’s nothing profound from Bryant, it’s good news for Lakers fans that he’s already started the courtship of Howard, assuming you want Howard to remain in Los Angeles.

Howard has made it known already that he plans to entertain offers from other teams and will go on in-person visits to prospective teams.

Kobe seems intent on letting Howard figure things out before putting on the full court press, and it sounds like he expects Howard to remain a cornerstone piece of the Lakers in seasons to come.
