Lakers News: Jordan Farmar Believes He Belongs with the Lakers

After taking a backseat to All-Star point guard Deron Williams with the New Jersey Nets and spending some time playing basketball overseas, two-time NBA championship Jordan Farmar has decided to return home to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Although it appeared to be a stretch that Farmar would return to the Lakers, the veteran floor general said at his introductory press conference that he never stopped watching the team and knew Los Angeles was where he should be:

“To be honest I’ve been watching the Lakers since the moment I left. To see how things were going. Stay up all night overseas watching games. Just knowing that’s where I belong, that’s where I felt most comfortable.”

Despite searching for the opportunity to shine as a starter in the NBA, Farmar has seemingly coFARMAR2me to grips with backup role and doesn’t mind playing behind Steve Nash next season.

Once given the opportunity to return to the team this summer, Farmar didn’t hesitate to make the move and believes he’s grown by leaps and bounds since leaving in 2010:

“I’ve grown tremendously as a person and a basketball player and the opportunity to get back here where I consider home was something I didn’t want to pass up.”

It remains to be seen how much Farmar will be able to contribute to the team next season. Although no longer considered the promising young point guard of the two championship teams in 2009 and 2010, Farmar is only 26 and will look to provide a spark off the bench.
