Lakers News: Dr. Buss Memorial Banner Open to Fans at L.A. Live

bussmemorialThe Lakers community is still mourning the loss of Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss. Fans have left flowers and cards in front of Staples Center honoring the man who brought the “showtime” Lakers to L.A.

As thousands of purple and gold fans pour into Staples Center tonight, Laker fans can further honor Dr. Buss by signing the Dr. Buss Memorial Banner located at the Nokia Plaza across the street from Staples Center. Fans can pay their respects before going to see the Lakers take on the Boston Celtics. A rivalry game that Buss cherished the most.

The memorial banner was put up yesterday, and fans have already taken the opportunity to thank Dr. Buss and the Buss family for all they have done for L.A. Fans lined up and took turns signing the banner.

“Thank you for what you have done for the Lakers and for the NBA!!! R.I.P. Dr. Buss. Laker For Life.”, one Laker fan wrote. “Legends Never Die.”

As of now the banner will be up until the memorial service, which will be hosted this Thursday, at the Nokia Theater at L.A. Live. Although this service is not open to the public, it will be shown live on TWC Sports Net.

In memory of Dr. Buss, the Lakers have announced they will wear commemorative “JB” patches on the right side of their jerseys for the remainder of the season. It is still unclear when the banner will be taken down, but for now fans can take advantage of this opportunity and pay their respects.
