Lakers Nation Reacts: Does Dwight’s Decision Hinder on Mike D’Antoni?

There’s been a lot of talk concerning free agency and the Lakers’ options this off-season. The biggest issue right now for Los Angeles is whether or not they re-sign center Dwight Howard, who will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1. One rumor that’s been circulating is that Howard isn’t the biggest fan of coach Mike D’Antoni, so he might not want to remain a Laker as long as D’Antoni is running the show.

In today’s poll question, we asked Lakers Nation whether or not they believe Howard’s decision is based on whether or not D’Antoni’s still roaming the sidelines in 2014.

Surprisingly, 64% of fans think that Dwight’s decision WILL be based on D’Antoni’s return. Considering the front office has expressed faith in D’Antoni and publicly declared he’s their coach next season, that might be trouble if the fans are correct.

Still, Howard hasn’t expressed any displeasure with D’Antoni or stated that his role with the team will dictate his return.

Anyways, whether or not Howard returns to the Lakers will most likely be determined by many factors, one of which will likely be his feelings with D’Antoni. Even if Howard never admits that that plays into his ultimate decision, I would bet he will consider D’Antoni’s position with the team before making his final decision.
