The Lakers kicked off the week in a way that you pretty much just can’t top – yet another special meeting with President Obama. The very next day was also momentous for the Purple and Gold as they officially welcomed back starting center, Andrew Bynum, against the Washington Wizards after what was turning into an eternity of waiting. The personnel shuffling did not stop there however, as Sasha Vujacic was unceremoniously traded to the New Jersey Nets in return for veteran journeyman, Joe Smith and a few draft picks. Through it all though, the team has been playing much better basketball in the immediate two games Bynum has been back and are riding a three-game winning streak after destroying the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday. Now, onto the kicks.
This weekend will prove to be another big one for Jordan Brand as the Air Jordan XIII White/Black-Varsity Red will be released. We are also less than a week away from the release of the Air Jordan XI ‘Cool Grey’! It doesn’t stop there as the Jordan train keeps on trucking so be sure to check our Jordan Holidays page to stay up to date!
Obviously the natural competitor himself, Kobe is looking to stake his own claim to the sneaker holiday season with the upcoming release of his highly anticipated Nike Zoom Kobe VI. As has been the case with the past two models from Kobe’s signature line, the VI will also feature the most advanced NIKEiD package yet for his kicks. We also took a look at the ‘Chaos’ colorway, which looks like it’s going to be a mega hit with fans of Mamba’s sneakers.
LeBron James will also make a splash this during Christmas with the Nike LeBron 8 V2 ‘Christmas’ special edition. These shoes will be put on full display for the world to see when the Miami Heat visit our Los Angeles Lakers next Saturday on Christmas Day! If red isn’t really your forte, there’s always the all black everything option in the Black/Anthracite colorway. Bron held serve last year at the Staples Center, but will he be able to do it two years in a row?
Topping off the Nike Christmas sneaker editions will be Kevin Durant and his Nike Zoom KD III ‘Christmas’. While Durant may not be as high on the pecking order as Kobe and LeBron just yet, there is no doubt that his kicks have made a lot of noise so far and Nike definitely seems to be investing a lot into making sure he fulfills his full potential in the sneaker game.
