Brings You: This Week in Kicks

It’s been a very eventful week for Kobe as he sparked a lot of media attention both on and off the court – all great things of course.  As I’m sure most of us saw, Mamba orchestrated his 17th career triple double and became the Lakers’ all-time leader in minutes played at Sacramento while defeating the Kings, committed to the 2012 Olympics and his participation in the Call of Duty: Black Ops campaign took the Internet by storm.  Quite a week right?

There was one other thing Kobe did as well.  He continued rocking the newest and potentially final colorway of his monumental fifth signature series of kicks, the Nike Zoom Kobe V ‘Ink’.  They looked pretty sweet on his feet while he was toying with the Sacramento Kings all night, en route to leading the Lakers to a 5-0 overall record to start the season.  If you didn’t catch it though, top rookie John Wall also came within one cookie of notching his very first career triple-double against the 76ers.

By now, it’s clear that the NBA season is back in full force and well under way, which also means that the holidays are right around the corner!  So let’s get the holiday shopping list started with a look at some fresh kicks.

With Kobe’s sixth line set for a December release, the Nike Zoom Kobe V ‘Ink’ really does appear to be the last colorway of the series, which is rather crazy to think about because of the litany of schemes and builds we’ve seen over the last year.  But if they are indeed the last, I’d say it’s not a bad way to go out at all.

If you haven’t noticed, John Wall is a very special player even for a rookie.  At only 20 years of age, he is the complete package for not only what you want in a point guard, but a basketball player.  Reebok has not had a legitimate NBA star endorsing their sneakers since AI so we will see just how far Wall can take his game and the Reebok Zig Slash this season.

Like I said, the holiday shopping season is beckoning upon us and the Air Jordan III ‘Doernbecher’ is sure to be a stocking buster.  While this pair doesn’t have quite the same amount of hype as the Air Jordan XI ‘Cool Grey’, it will certainly be a significant release for the Jordan line next month.

For fans of Air Jordan I and Nike’s Foamposite uppers, the Air Jordan I Anodized ‘Cranberry’ is your blend of both worlds.  If you like flair and flash, these kicks might just rock your socks.
