Former Laker Sasha Vujacic Signs 10-Day Contract With Clippers

Sasha Vujacic

A familiar face will rejoin the NBA tonight. According to ESPN’s Arash Markazi, former Laker Sasha Vujacic returns to the NBA and to Los Angeles tonight, but this time, not in a Lakers jersey:

Also according to Markazi, Doc Rivers has shown interest in Vujacic just a month ago:

I like Sasha. I don’t know if we’ll go with him right now but I do like him a lot.”

This will by no means be a comeback from Vujacic, but he could be valuable to the Clippers for a handful of games to come as the organization awaits Chris Paul’s return from a shoulder injury suffered in early January. There is no definite timetable for Paul’s return, but the team hopes to see the point guard on the court in mid-Febuary with high doubts of an All-Star Game appearance.

Vujacic has not played a minute in the NBA since the 2010-2011 season. There is no telling how Vujacic will perform back in the NBA spotlight, but he did average 11.6 points per game in his stint with the New Jersey Nets in 2011. Although in his career, he has averaged 5.6 points and 1.3 assists per game.

Vujacic is currently 29-years-old and holds two NBA championship titles with the Lakers in 2009 and 2010. The Clippers organization looks forward to seeing Vujacic’s impact in the next 10 days.
