World Peace aka Ron Artest Honored by LA County Board of Supervisors

By | July 13, 2011|

Coming to Los Angeles has probably been one of the best career moves by Metta World Peace. Consider the amount of hardware he’s been able to pick up since his arrival – the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award, an NBA championship ring and now another plaque to honor World Peace’s efforts in raising awareness for mental health issues.

The same campaign that World Peace launched last summer as Ron Artest to auction off his championship ring, helped raise $650,000 to support health programs.

I’m so proud of Ron!  He has changed so much!

People are so quick to point out tne negative side of professional athletes. I think it’s good to see the athlete formerly known as Ron Artest make this transformation. His reputation took a big hit (no pun intended) with the “Brawl in the Palace”, but since  coming to the Lakers he has completly change his image. He came here and embraced the city of Los Angeles, became a World Champion, and then used that to help change the lives of so many people. He deserves a lot of credit for all the hard work he’s done with helping people suffering from mental health issues. Congratulations Metta! I can’t wait until this lockout is over so I can go and get a World Peace jersey.
