Warriors’ Stephen Curry Expected To Play Tonight Against Lakers

hi-res-6155026_crop_exactThe Lakers are hoping to get back on track after two consecutive losses that halted the recent progress of the team. They must face the challenge of getting back to their winning ways away from the comfort of home, as the Lakers begin a four game road trip tonight at Golden State.

The Warriors’ Stephen Curry is growing into one of the best point guards and pure shooters in the league, and is having a great season thus far. He scored 35 points on Saturday against the Wizards despite tweaking his right ankle once again. If you are unaware, Curry has a habit of re-spraining that ankle multiple times in his career (three times this season alone).

However, x-rays performed on Curry’s ankle were negative and he plans to suit up and play tonight against the Lakers. According to Yahoo! Sports, Curry had the following to say about playing tonight against the Lakers:

“I’m fine. Don’t worry about my ankle, I’ll get through it like I usually do,” he said, according to multiple media reports. “I have to get my treatment and get ready for Monday.”

“You have to be smart at this point of the season,” Curry said “Fighting through something when you’re not ready, when you have bigger things coming down the stretch, you have to be smart. We know the Lakers are coming, and they’re right behind us and need that game.”

This matchup with the Warriors is more complex because of standings implications. Currently the Warriors are three and a half games ahead of the Lakers for the sixth seed in the Western Conference. The Lakers have two games remaining in the season against the Warriors, including tonight.

Stephen Curry won’t be the only one playing through pain tonight as the Lakers’ Antawn Jamison plans to suit up and give it a go despite having a slight tear in his wrist, which he sustained on Friday against the Wizards. This goes to show you this game’s importance for both teams.
