Video: Tunisian Player Asks Kobe for Autograph After Match

By | August 1, 2012|

NBA players are some of the most recognizable sports figures in the world. Kobe Bryant enjoys world wide fame and that type of respect was evident during the 2008 Beijing Olympics and is being show in London also.

Bryant is one of the most competitive players in these Summer Games, but he had to oblige to an opponent’s request yesterday.

After  Team USA beat Tunisia 110-63, Tunisian player Mohamed Hadidane took off his shoe after the game and asked for Kobe’s autograph.

This type of royal treatment was also seen during the 1992 Olympics with the Dream Team. Some opponents were more concerned with trying to snag a picture with the players rather than figuring out a way to beat them.

Tunisia competed well against the Americans in the first half, but eventually the Americans came out on top. Although the Tunisian players surprised many with their play, you could tell they understood the USA was just too powerful.

The USA basketball teams carry the good will of the American People on their shoulder. It makes me very proud to be an American. Moreover as a Lakers fan, It also feels good that Kobe is given his just dues. We, in the U.S., tend to gravitate to the relatively new players who are distinguishing themselves, like Lebron James and Kevin Durant. Yet it seems that the international community waits until a player has established his legacy before showering them with accolades. We are fortunate to witness our team vie for the gold this year!! We are so lucky to have the pleasure of watching the world play in the NBA every week after the summer games are over!!
