Video: Steve Nash Opens Up About Pre-Season Struggles

By | October 22, 2012|

It’s the first time the Los Angeles Lakers have ever been without a win in the preseason, and the 0-6 record seems to be affecting each player differently. After the Lakers 99-92 loss to the Sacramento Kings Sunday night, Steve Nash opened up about the struggles his team has faced in the preseason.

“It’s been painful and ugly at times, but this is going to pay off….We have moments when we doubt and question ourselves, but overall are excited and thrilled.”

Kobe on the other hand has never showed any signs of doubt.

“We’re playing extremely well, it’s pretty effortless for us….I think we’re ahead of the curve in terms of how we execute (the Princeton offense).”

Nash, however, seems to have a different take on the struggles that each player has faced during the preseason.

“All five of the starters have been the guy, at times in their career, to try to fit in but at the same time exploit your talents… I think each guy is struggling with that too.”

Check out what Nash had to say post-game in the locker room!

Nash is talking about his pre season performance.  His production has been not so good with turnovers.

HOW COME THE BIGS COME TO THE TOP OF THE KEY TO START–NASH HAS NO ROOM   TO WORK, THATS WHERE THE TURN OVER COME FROM–BROWN WAKE UP

thats the princeton offense. you have two post, either both high post, or one high one low, while one guard is at the top of the arch, the other two freethrow line extended at the two wings.

You can run the Princeton with one big, but wouldn’t really work with both Pau and Dwight. The big plays so high to set picks for all those guards cutting through the lane. Also opens up pick and roll opportunities. This offense is ideal for this team.

If this offense is ideal why aren’t they scoring more? This offense is an albatross around the neck of Steve Nash. Going to the Princeton was Kobe Bryant’s idea. It takes the ball out of the hands of the best play-maker in the league. I don’t think the bench has a clue how to run it either. This system doesn’t even need a point guard. You’ve got the best pick & roll combo in the league plus one of the best spot-up shooters in the league. Why not use them instead of this convoluted offense? Mike Brown needs to turn Steve Nash loose. Everyone thinks he already has, but as long as the Princeton is their main offensive scheme that is what Nash is going to run the majority of the time. Unleash Steve Nash!
