Video: Nick Young, Jordan Farmar Showing Off Their Athleticism

One major complaint about the Lakers over the last few years has been their lack of young, athletic guards and wing players. The Lakers have been consistently exploited by quick point guards and athletic wings the last few years and have often had to resort to having Kobe Bryant trying to chase around the likes of Tony Parker and Russell Westbrook.

The Lakers are trying to change that this season with the additions of Wesley Johnson, Jordan Farmar, and Nick Young. These guys will add an athletic dimension that we haven’t seen with the Lakers in years. Young and Farmar were at the Lakers practice facilities today and showed off their hops:

Yesterday we got to see Nick Young show off his shooting ability and now we get to see his jumping ability. He has the potential to make a huge difference for the Lakers this season as his talent is undeniable. Farmar has some impressive athleticism as well and when you have to play the likes of Westbrook, Parker, Chris Paul, Stephen Curry, and Mike Conley in the Western Conference, he will be a much needed asset.

Despite many thinking the Lakers will fall out of the playoffs this season, it is becoming more apparent that the talent level on this team has not fallen too far at all.

Glad to see Farmar still has the hops! Young is 5 inches taller than Jordan. Jordan seems to get up higher in this video. All good either way but what I want to see is how they put it together on the court, chemistry wise. I got a really good feeling about this season.

not completely surprising. at his draft combine, farmar had the biggest vertical of anyone. the dude can get up.

Good to see new acquisitions bettering their skills ahead of training camp (9/28). (Optimistic).

Farmar and young are actually great friends So you can expect lobs and hard to stop fastbreaks from them both
This is going to be a way better season and these guys would have a better chemistry and hopefully stay healthy

      1 Nash – Farmar – Blake
      2 Bryant – Blake – Meeks
      3 Young – Johnson – Meeks – Harris
      4 Hill – johnson – Kelly – Harris
(maybe Beasley or Odom for spot 3 or 4)
      5 Gasol – Kaman – Hill

I like your roster, I will just switch Harris and Johnson, then add Young to SG sub Kobe once in a while, playing 2/3.

      • Jim213

Nice though I’d prefer Beasley on the 4 if he can be acquired (height) once the nuns waive him. We need more toughness like a Matt Barnes/MWP player. This would be good given his attitude as scrambler type of player though he’d need to be monitored off the court.

No he wont get minutes over Blake. Contrary to popular belief, Blake deserves and earned the minutes he’ll get. Farmar already addressed this in an interview. That’s the team attitude and maturity he now has that we need!

Blake and Farmar will see time on the court together. Blake can slide over to SG from time to time. As Laker fans, lets not argue over who should be doing what and just let the process play itself out. If Farmar proves he deserves more PT, so be it. If Blake does then that’s cool also. Competition is a good thing for the team.
