After the Lakers beat the Utah Jazz in their final preseason game on Friday night, Lakers head coach Mike D’Antoni was asked if there was any chance, in his mind, that Kobe Bryant could play on opening night. His response was anything but optimistic.

“No, my God – I know he’s superman but my god, since he hasn’t run yet.”

D’Antoni continued – almost speechless, at the thought of Kobe returning Tuesday.

“I mean, no I don’t think, you know, maybe I, you know, but …you know, he can’t run yet, my god if that happens it’s like – Wow.”

The Lakers declined to make a public statement that Kobe would officially be ruled out for Tuesday, but there was a clear sentiment amongst Lakers personnel, that it would be crazy to think Kobe will play opening night.

IMO, mid Dec or early Jan. Kobe will likely spend most of this time in El Segundo. I expect Kobe to return to himself strength and conditioning wise as it will take time (April/May) before he returns to his usual high level of play.

Kobe Bryant will be back on 1225!That would make it 8 months and 13 days since he was first injured. The time table originally was 6 to 9 months,so December or January most likely.
