VIDEO: Dwight Howard Talks About Kobe Injury and Moving Forward

Screen Shot 2013-04-13 at 7.32.35 PMThere is no question that the main topic of conversation among the players, coaches, staff and media was about Kobe Bryant, his injury and how his void on the court will affect the Lakers moving forward as they fight to remain in playoff position.

Dwight Howard, whose chemistry and relationship on the court with Kobe Bryant had just began to flourish, talked about the team’s focus and how they will approach a Kobe-less team for the remainder of the regular season and the postseason (if they make it).

“The only thing that matters is these two games and getting into the playoffs and making history. That’s the only thing that matters. We’re going for  No. 17.”

“We got to move forward. I don’t think he wants us to keep our heads down. He wants us to go out there and fight just like he would fight, and that’s what we’re going to do.”

Howard will now be the centerpiece for the Lakers’ game plan, without Kobe in uniform. In the video below from Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters from Saturday’s practice, Dwight talks about stepping up as a player and a leader, his similar experience with a season-ending surgery and how to move forward as a team.
