Top 5 Pau Gasol Trade Possibilities the Lakers Should Consider

By | June 3, 2012|

2: Los Angeles Lakers receive: SF Luol Deng, PF Carlos Boozer

Chicago Bulls receive: PF Pau Gasol, SF Metta World Peace

Recent reports indicated that Pau Gasol wanted to be traded to the Chicago Bulls, a move that would surely strengthen the team. The Bulls need another scorer on their roster and Gasol fits that requirement. Their offense tends to stick when Derrick Rose has the ball, but Gasol would surely fix that problem.

Rose does not have a lot of players around him who can score on their own, but if he gets Gasol he can feed him the ball and get results. Gasol is one of the most-skilled big men in the NBA and he can bring the Bulls over the hump in the Eastern Conference.

The Bulls would also add Metta World Peace, someone who is a defensive maestro and can occasionally knock down the three-point shot. Although World Peace is not as young as Luol Deng, he does match his defensive pressure.

As for the Lakers, the main piece in this trade would be Luol Deng, a young small forward who fits well with this system. Just like World Peace, Deng can shut down opposing players and is much more effective on the offensive end.

The one question mark comes with Carlos Boozer, someone who has struggled since leaving the Jazz. Boozer has the ability to score 20 points when he gets touches, but his defensive skills are no way near those of Gasol.

LMAO @ these trades.. We aren’t trading gasol for a boozer or deng type player, we aren’t getting jennings and a potential all star demarcus cousins just for gasol and goudelock, iggy’s value is probably higher than gasol so they would probably want more, the rocket’s arent trading patterson he is their starting PF when scola is retired, the only realistic trade here is the josh smith trade.. and even then they still might want more for josh smith.

    • really?

actually you are not very bright are you, Iggy’s trade value is not that high, in fact he is vastly overrated. and you do not get how some teams might value pau.

Pau is aging, iggys presence for the sixers against the celtics put him up there

Why would the kings do that?

if i were to trade gasol id do the hawks trade because josh smith is a beast and add him plus world peace, kobe, sessions, and bynum and you got a championship team again. plus he is still young and can perform on both sides of the court. also marvin williams is a great player and can perform well too. they both lack the size of gasol but with their offensive/defensive performances it makes up for it. this would be a gain for us and a loss for them.

the rockets one was ridiculous and the bucks trade will never happen in a million years this author is fucking stupid he just makes up deals that wont happen.

    • Sportsnut2083

ya brennan i dont see n e of these going throught either but gasol will be traded maybe for d williams

  • Sportsnut2083

josh smith trade is the most sense here than bynum for howard or go get d williams and bring hill and barnes back with odom for 1.8 mil makes the most sense here..lakers get howard or williams and the lakers win the whole thing next year

shit stop being realistic after trade 3.  Come on now.. kings wont give up cousins.  they already fired a coach for him( who deserved it) or thornton for that matter either

Gasol for Andre Iguodala + Nikola Vucevic? Ramneet, you’ve gotta be smoking some real good WEED’NEET. That’s the biggest load of $hit for a trade that I’ve ever read about.

  • Yahsdha

the kings/bucks deal for gasol is great i just dont know how realistic it is.. but i also like the rockets deal followed by the hawks deal.. and the bulls deal is plain awful.. boozer is not the boozer from the jazz..

Andre Iguodala……..no thank you. The Lakers will most likely trade Pau to Houston or to Minnesota. Those are the two teams that wanted him the most.

  • Dtrout11

give me Josh Smith and Hinrich, and you can have Gasol!

  • lakerman34

The Kings have to be SUPER high to even CONSIDER that trade offer… There three best young players for an old Pau Gasol? SMH…

  • Phil7659

This should be the lakers starting lineup next season…..PG:Kyle Lowry SG:Kobe Bryant SF:Micheal Beasly PF:Luis Scola C:Andrew Bynum. Trade Pau Gasol to the Rockets for Lowry and Scola, then trade Jordan Hill,Steve Blake, and Devin Ebanks to the t-wolves for Beasly. Its cheaper than getting d-will and d-12.
