4. Michael Cooper While the first three members of this list were predominately offensive juggernauts, Cooper was the exact opposite. Known for his tenacious defense and highlight reel Coop-a-loops, Cooper was a key member of five Lakers championship teams during the Showtime era. Cooper spent his entire career with the Lakers, and even won NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 1987. He was named to the NBA First Team All-Defense squad five times in his career, and was even declared as the toughest defender Celtics star Larry Bird ever faced. Cooper was the defensive backbone of the Lakers dynasty, and it is certain they would not have had nearly as much success without him.
