Steve Nash Talks About Pau Gasol, Dwight Howard Duo in Post

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State WarriorsThe Los Angeles Lakers played the first part of the 2012-13 regular season without guard Steve Nash, and in that time, the team struggled to win games. Everyone expected Nash to fix the Lakers’ problems once he got back; however, even with Nash in uniform the Lakers are still under .500.

While Nash is the best point guard for the Mike D’Antoni system, he is having trouble finding a way to get Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol to work together. The two big men have not built any chemistry on the court and the Lakers need to have those two on the same page if they want to make a push for the postseason.

Nash spoke to ESPN LA and he talked about what the Lakers need to do to get back on track and touched upon the relationship between Howard and Gasol on the basketball court.

“I don’t know what the best way is to make them play together, but I know one thing is that they both got to just play hard and believe and not worry about — ‘Hey, how can we make this work,’ ” Nash said. “We just got to fight and scrap and on defense, use their length and athleticism and on offense, we all got to just be unselfish and sacrifice and make plays for each other regardless of where we are on the floor.”

Overall, the Lakers are not a very cohesive team and the players are still trying to figure out their roles in this system. However, Los Angeles is running out of time and it needs to gets things together quickly or else chances of making the playoffs will be long gone.

The Lakers will have a chance to snap their five-game losing streak when they host the Cleveland Cavaliers Sunday night.
