Steve Nash, Chris Kaman Both Unlikely To Play In Preseason Finale

The Lakers will complete their preseason campaign on Friday night against the Utah Jazz. For many on the team, they’ll use the night to fight for roster spots or to move up in Mike D’Antoni’s rotation. However, for others, it’ll be a night used to rest ailing injuries or sicknesses.

Steven Nash has been dealing with neck and ankle issues while Kaman has been out with a stomach issue sine the team has returned from their trip to China. Kaman wasn’t at practice today and didn’t play in the Lakers win over the Jazz this past Tuesday.

Last season, injuries was a huge issue, and both Kaman and Nash have dealt with their fair share during the course of their respective careers — especially now that they’re increasing in age. Maintaining health has been a theme for D’Antoni all preseason, electing to sit guys who were questionable and sacrificing preseason wins to rest starters late in games.

Nash’s ankle and Neck injuries don’t seem like issues that will linger, but the team is looking to take every precaution to ensure he’s ready to go by the start of the season.

More playtime for Farmar, S Williams, J Hill and likely Meeks.

Great idea hold out the older guy Steve Nash in the preseason.Aslo Caveman has no reason to play he is sick with stomach issues.Nashty and Mike D’Antoni should do this agree on scheduling meaning Steve gets extra days off in the regular season no need to play him every game.Just look at how Pop or Spoelstra rest their players during the regular season Manu and Parker,Duncan always get some games off also Dwayne Wade gets days off and misses games.Nashty will help the Lakers out IMO.

why even think about playing nash shut him down. it not worth it for him to play tomorrow. season start in less than a week. rest him up. we need him more Tuesday than we do Friday

Nash, understandable. Kaman, questionable decision if Pau is playing. I’d sit both Kaman and Pau, or play both in order to continue the building of chemistry between them. Sitting both would give Kelly and Landry extra minutes to battle it out for the 15th roster spot at PF. It would also give Sacre more time at center.

No need for Nash to play in this game even if he was 100%. Let the new guys have more minutes on the floor. Ready for the season to begin. Hoping we can shut up some of the critics and surprise some people. I
