Source: Lakers Officially Re-Sign Free Agent Jordan Hill

By | July 20, 2012|

The Los Angeles Lakers have officially agreed to re-sign free agent forward Jordan Hill to a two-year deal worth about $8 million according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports via Twitter:

After agreeing to sign veteran forward Antawn Jamison once he returns from a vacation in Italy, the Lakers next order of business was locking up Hill for at least two to three more years. The talks of re-signing Hill starting to heat up earlier this week with the 24-year-old getting some serious interest from the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Lakers making it known they intended to re-sign him.

Fortunately, the Lakers were able to convince Hill to stick around for the next two seasons. Hill is reportedly excited to play alongside the recently acquired Steve Nash.

With Hill and Jamison coming off the bench, the Lakers’ second unit will be a force to be reckoned with in the frontcourt with both players almost certainly getting significant time on the floor next season. Hill will primarily be the backup for Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol in the frontcourt.

The proposed three-team blockbuster trade to acquire Dwight Howard from the Orlando Magic is still in the works, but as of right now the Lakers are looking pretty even without landing the three-time Defensive Player of the Year.

    It’s about time.

NOW ALL WE NEED IS MAYBE A POINT GUARD AND A SHOOTING GUARD.

  • Scionkai

I wouldn’t say formidable, but we need Hill on the boards..its not the problem with guards imo..the whole freaking bench are guards, we need ebanks and eyenga to step the hell up with d.morris/glock in action..would’ve been good if we kept A.Morris, he’s killing in the Summer league..probably had issues with Phil then

haha killing it in summer against who? rookies and players who wont make a team lol. that not killing it. talk about playing well when he does it in the NBA

You forget that that’s how Ebanks started: Killing it in the Summer League.

    LAL is back!

best back up big man we had since odom. what great he young. im glad he back. cant wait to see him and Jamison come off the bench.  can we say this is the first year in like 2 years we dont sign a older vet to back up pau and byumn. jamsion dont count because he can actually help the team

  • Lakerfreak

The lakers have 4PGs not counting unsigned draft pick Johnson-Odom. Lakers don’t need to sign a PG. what we need is someone to back up Kobe so he can catch a good breather.

    WE REALLY LOOK GOOD NOW

  • http://www.facebook.com/Robobob909 Robert Brown

How about Nate Robinson?  He is an unrestricted free agent who averaged 1.3 points off the bench last year.  He might be gotten cheap, too!

  • Dadzter

Hell yeah! Now we can focus on the backup wing. IMO, there aren’t anyone worthy of mention left in the free agent
pool, so the lakers should look into trading McRoberts for guys like Brandon Rush, Deshawn Stevenson, Delonte West, and Cory Brewer.

We can’t afford Brandon Rush the Warriors can easily pay him more. Sometimes, it pays to be realistic. The lakers doesn’t have anymore money. I’m thinking for the shooting guard. The lakers can look at Michael Reed or Randy Foye. Both are barely making over a million dollars. I think the lakers still have that 1.4 million to spend if not. Here’s my bench suggestion

    With a 1.4 million

    Jordan Hill center
    Antoine Jamison PF
    Devin Ebanks  SF
Michael Reed or Rany Foye  SG
    Steve Blake PG

    Without the 1.4 million

    Jordan Hill Center
    Antoine Jamison PF
    Devin Ebanks SF
    Steve Blake SG
    Darius Morris PG.

I know Darius Morris doesn’t belong as a back up PG. Look, he look better than anyone in the laker uniform at the summer league. We need somebody young at the point guard to keep up with Westbrook, I said keep up not better plus the lakers doesn’t have the money.

I like him, but what??? $8M/2yrs??? for a PF when we already got Jamison? Curious to see how much we’re gonna spend on our back-court now.
Again, I like him, but after Jamison he was not a priority and definitely not for this much money!

      Hill will mainly play Center

      • Jay Widler

So u tellin me he plays the 3, the 4 and the 5? lol
        Nah, he’s a PF and that’s it.
Really curious to see both Jamison and Hill on the floor at the same time.
Not gonna work very well if u ask me but hey, let’s wait and see…

    • Joyjoyismine

Jamison isn’t always going to play the 4. He can play the 3 if need be.

JORDAN HILL’S A CENTER TOO I GUESS LOL

  • Borge

Great decision on re-signing Jordan Hill. Great pick-up on Antawn Jamison. Finally a decent supporting cast. I just wish the LAKERS still have Shannon Brown because he knows his role and really delivers especially when Kobe needs a little rest. If Devin Ebanks can step up his game and maybe play the Shooting Guard position in his size? Damn! The LAKERS are back for sure!

  • Joyjoyismine

Get Brandon Rush for McBob. He’s an expiring contract.

WHAT IF HE GOES TO PRISON THEN WHAT HIS AGENT SAYS THEY GO TO COURT TUESDAY IF HE ALREADY SIGNED HIM HE LAKERS ARE F…KED

  • http://www.facebook.com/jason.black.509511 Jason Black

    IF THEY

  • De4golf

No one to guard the athletic guards, need Ronnie Brewer or someone like him on defense who can shoot
