Shootaround Report: Mike D’Antoni “Psyched,” Steve Blake Out

At shootaround today, it was difficult to tell who was more excited for tonight’s game against the Brooklyn Nets. According to ESPN’s Beto Duran, D’Antoni could not have sounded more excited to finally assume his place on the coach’s bench during tonight’s game.

Lack of energy was D’Antoni’s main reasoning behind deciding to watch Sunday’s win from the training room. However, according to Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News, D’Antoni got plenty of rest last night, and will be counting on his adrenaline to carry him through tonight’s match-up.

With the news that Steve Blake is out for the next two days, Darius Morris will have another chance to impress on the court. There is no timetable on Blake’s return as he continues to be evaluated on a day-to-day basis.

Morris will be coming off a career high 12 points (in 31 minutes) in Sunday night’s win against the Houston Rockets. The second-year guard has been sharing his point guard duties with Kobe Bryant, who led the team with 11 assists on Sunday. Expect to see Bryant sharing point guard duties with Morris again as the Lakers take on the Brooklyn Nets tonight at home.
