Rumors: Relationship Drama Causing Gasol’s Struggles?

Share on FacebookTweet about this on Twitter

As reported this morning by Colin Cowherd on his radio show for ESPN, it appears that the recent struggles of Pau Gasol may be related to his recent breakup with his longtime girlfriend and fiance.

Cowherd was citing an article on MediaTakeout.com, which stated that two weeks ago Gasol was dumped by his girlfriend, and that he blamed a teammate’s wife.

Whether or not the reports are true, it could explain the inexplicable demise of Gasol’s performance on the court. It could also explain the ‘trust issues’ that were brought up by Andrew Bynum following the loss in Game 2 on Wednesday night.

dayyuuuumm, let me guess kobe’s wife

    • http://twitter.com/rayanselmo Ray Anselmo

Nope — Steve Blake’s wife, apparently. And I was willing to bet money it was Khloe …

      • Simplycj3

Khloe is not Steve Blake’s wife. Khloe is Lamar Odom’s wife..

  • Lakerfan

It is Kristen Blake, Steve Blake’s wife.
Proof: Pau was following her on Twitter earlier. Now he is not

how on earth does a team mates wife cause the break up of a long term relationship??? did pau cheat on her?… its all just a conspiracy. there is no cold hard evidence.

In any case, if you have a problem with your woman because of a co-worker’s wife’s involvement in your relationship, go to the co-worker and set it straight with them. Don’t let it fester till the whole team and season goes down the drain. I would have said something to whoever about they woman the first time it affected me at home and let it go. If she’s in the wind then don’t let the door hit you, were the good Lord split you.

Kinda makes sense, since Steve Blake has been playing for crap too.

First of all it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been in a relationship for. If Pau’s relationship was shallow and his girlfriend is mentally weak anything can break off a relationship. Off what I see this is more than likely Pau’s first serious relationship..with him dedicating his teenage years to basketball then transisioning over to the U.S. I doubt he ever had time for a relationship. He needs to just man up though and realize that playing like a girly won’t make things better, he needs to show anger and rage by giving it his all..if he wants to listen to taylor swift after the game thats all on him..just play like yourself pau!!!

Whether this is true or not, all athletes have slumps. Most of the time, we never find out why. I just hope Pau can get over whatever is bothering him, cuz losing won’t make his life better. Being the champ he was in the last 3 finals series would be a big help for him and the Lakers. And those “fans” who booed are not real fans. Just people who have the money and time to go to the see celebrities a the playoffs.

Not true. Irresponsible journalism. Can’t even spell her name correctly.

I hope this isn’t true Pau and Sylvia were perfect for each other. I thought he finally found his match a simple yet classy spanish gal unlike his other rumor ex-gfs that look like effing trash

  • Cecile Jones

It doesn’t matter about personal problems the players have a job to do as all working people.. I hope Pau can solve his problems and do his job. We all have problems, but we must go on..We love you Pau and all of the team..Good luck..JUST GET BETTER..

Understand as time moves forward the athletes get better. It’s really unfair to compare players from differnt eras or even decades. Because the competition keeps getting stiffer.

The Lakers were 17-1 after the All-Star break. They struggle to get past the New Orleans Hornets and, now, they are about to get swept by the Mavericks! W T F happened? It’s sad. I do believe the Lakers will rebound next year and win the championship, but they have a LOT of issues to address. Number one is to address the bench. They need a stronger bench! Period! They also need a TRUE point guard! Chris Paul would be a perfect fit! The Lakers will pass the Celtics as the all-time leader in championships. It’s just sad (for Laker fans, anyway) to see what’s happening to them right now. A message to Kobe… You are definitely one of the greatest NBA players of all time. But, at this point, Magic Johnson is still the greatest Laker of all-time and Michael Jordan’s resume’ is certainly better than yours at this point in time. However, I predict Kobe will win at least one more NBA championship before he retires. Knowing what a great champion he is, I don’t think he would settle for anything less.

    • fan for life!

Would you and the rest of the world quit comparing Kobe to all the other greats that came before him. It’s funny that they never compare themselves to each other and have all said they tremendously respect or look up to each other. Every great player stands on his or her own merit and the comparisons people make tends to dilute the time, talent, and work ethics it takes to become as great as they are. Although, most great athletes don’t pay attention to most of this jibber, do yourself a favor and remember that we all have opinions, and that is just what they are, opinions. We still love our Lakers and always will, inspite of their human flaws.

Laker fans are just so spoiled! It’s championship or nothing. Grow up people……please!

  • Robert

Oh, BTW, Pau Gasol should be ashamed of himself. Don’t EVER let pussy get in the way of your job. Women are so f-ing complex! However, a TRUE professional puts that aside and gets the job done!

  • Robert

Yeah, Charles Barkley. Your were right about the Lakers. However, let me ask you a question. How many championships did you win? No disrespect. You won an MVP and were in the Finals back in 1993, but you never did win an NBA championsip. All I ask is that you don’t gloat too much about the Lakers losing to the Mavericks. If the do continue to play the way they are playing, the Mavericks will win the NBA title. The Lakers will still continue to be the best franchise in the NBA, though. Just a lot of issues to address…Hey, Lamar Scrotum: I’m in agreement with those who blame you and Khloe that the Lakers are floundering. Starting a reality show right before the playoffs?!?

    • 40 year fan

Have you noticed that Lamar Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! has been the most consistent player on the team? The show was taped prior to the playoffs and has absolutely nothing to do with their performance. Bottom line, they are not playing with the intensity that we know they are capable of. Personal problems can sometimes effect job performance. This too shall pass. Love the Lakers forever, Amen!

  • Ilwella

Unreal!! he looks like a broken man. Cant let anyone get you down like that Pau. MOB baby!

  • 08laker24

If there are trust issues I think Gasol should have sucked it up And Then deal with it After We The Lakers Became The 2011 Champs…. But now its too late for that ..Disappointed But still a Laker at heart

  • Peacekpr1441

He was not into the game because kobe’s wife introduced gesol fiance to another laker player during his engagement party, and had a affair with him. He was so hurt, he could not play his game and blamed kobe for it.
