RUMOR: Lakers, Bulls To Face Off On Christmas Day

It has become a tradition that on Christmas Day the Los Angeles Lakers play in one of the handful of games played on December 25. This year appears no different with the team rumored to face the Chicago Bulls on Christmas Day.

But, this year it looks like the team will be hopping on a plane, according to Brett Pollakoff of NBC Sports:

The NBA picking the Bulls as the Lakers’ opponent for the holiday game isn’t all that surprising. With Pau Gasol now in Chicago and Carlos Boozer wearing purple and gold next season, the Bulls were an obvious choice. The Houston Rockets were also talked about as a potential opponent for the Lakers with Jeremy Lin being traded to Los Angeles and Kobe Bryant having yet to face former teammate Dwight Howard.

Along with the Lakers taking on the Bulls in Chicago, a few other matchups have been leaked for December 25.

The Los Angeles Clippers will take on the Golden State Warriors in what is becoming one of the more heated rivalries in the league. LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers will face the Miami Heat in perhaps the most obvious matchup for Christmas Day and Phil Jackson’s New York Knicks will go up against John Wall and the Washington Wizards.

weird for the lakers to be on the road for xmas. been awhile since that happened.

    • lakers32

yeah 2006 was the last time lakers played on the road on xmas. it was in Miami and we got blown out. last time we won on the road on xmas was against the suns in 1996. so…it’s been awhile like you said.

  • Kishan

i would be better if Chicago came to the staples more unique i reckon …. but D-Rose Vs Kobe Bryant omg can’t wait

    • WAYNER

      Pau vs Lakers
      Boozer Vs Chicago

      • Kishan

Oh yes and that!!! but @ staples would be that much more better

  • erguy

LAL vs rox is better choice!

    • Duckathon

Yep, with the Lin and Howard angle, it would of made good drama.

  • Duckathon

    DRose and Pau…I like it!

  • Wilson

    That’s what’s up!!

  • lakeshow

Can’t wait. It’s messed up they have to play in Chicago though. It’s better at Staples.

  • Truth B Told

For entertainment value the game need to be in Hollywood on a Xmas…..Bad PR move……Go Lakers.

  • PlayerHaters

Possible (healthy) Rose vs (healthy) Mamba matchup???
Boozer vs Chi?? Pau vs Lakers??
DAYUM this gone be a dramatic game (if Rose and Mamba stay healthy though)

      theme: TAMING THE BULLS

i can see that there will be a meme about kobe, lakers and rose, bulls bcoz of their previous injuries

Lakers on the road on xmas? To a likely snowy Chicago no less? Doesn’t make sense, part of the reason the Lakers are always hosting xmas games, besides being the marquee team in the association, is the fact that teams like to come out to LA and escape the cold. Also Pau played in LA and left, so it would have been a better game had it been held here where he formerly played.

  • The Neptunes

If we are on the road, the team with no championships will probably be playing in OUR building… oh well, I never watch Clippers games anyways..

    • CyberCosmiX

There’s been times where both the Lakers and that other shitty NBA team that plays at Staples, the one with the tiny locker rooms that hangs selfies instead of banners, have had home games the same day.

Lakers Christmas games are always the biggest game of the day, usually the middle game of the 5 played and the game where network TV traditionally kick off coverage for the season.

  • purp& goldpride

Makes since…whether on the road or at home, the league will schedule the Lakers to play on Christmas. This is like 19 straight year. Kobe hasn’t had Christmas off since he’s been in the league.

  • Zach

I wonder if Kobe will be still be healthy at that point? Probably a 34% chance.

  • hookedonnews

I thought I heard that this game was going to be in LA. Obvious choice with Pau in Chicago and Boozer in LA, I guess. I’m sure the TV people would rather be in LA than Chicago in December.

  • foobar

why the fuck are you here anyway? go suck sterling bitch your team cant even make the conf finals

  • CyberCosmiX

Talking from experience? You’d know since that joke of a team was WORKED by the rest of the league for 40+ years.

Then again maybe you wouldn’t know as you probably started following them last week…

  • vdogg

give him a break, man. his team can’t win anything in the playoffs, so a regular season win is all he has to talk about. let the baby have her bottle.

  • Yaya

    Tell that to the landlord

  • hookedonnews

    No, they’re not.

  • YoShuab

Tickets still cheap for the clippers..not a box office draw

  • The Neptunes

Honestly, why don’t you just go join a Clippers fan site.. You should just be concerned on how your team can try to win a title, instead of covering ours.. You can be the better team in LA for as long as you want, but means nothing if you can’t even bring home a single chip.

Nothing against you or your team, but at least Lakers fans are loyal. Even when we have the shittiest season people still come to the games and continue to support the Lakers away from the court, while Clippers fans barely showed up once Cliff Paul arrived. Also, why does your team feel the need to cover our banners, if anything they should serve as motivation to try and win one.. regardless Los Angeles is a city for championships, the Lakers, Sparks, Kings, and we don’t cover any banners of the other teams who won championships, so why should the Clippers?

How would you feel if the Clippers won a title and the Lakers decided to place a Lakers logo over your banner? (since we wouldn’t have enough room to cover one banner with a full selfie).

  • Kishan

is this official or you just saying this ???

  • hookedonnews

The numbers say otherwise. If the Clippers are so great, why are you always reading about the Lakers and hanging out on these blogs. Lakers fans aren’t reading about the Clippers. Even Doc Rivers says that LA is the Lakers town.

  • hookedonnews

Dude, go back to your own team. You’re embarrassing yourself here.

  • hookedonnews

If I were you I would be worrying about how the Clippers are going to beat GS. Seriously, dude. Get a life.

Friends with Lakers season tix say they’re tough to get rid of . Nobody wants to pay good money to see lakers lose at home to Bucks, Jazz.

You guys are jealous we got the Xmas day spot @Staples. Lol. :)))
