Restaurant In Los Angeles Congratulates Lakers For ‘Amazing Playoff Run’

Utah Jazz v Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off the worst season in franchise history. After competing for an NBA title on an almost annual basis, the Lakers finished the 2013-14 NBA season with a record 27-55 resulting in missing the playoffs for only the third time since moving from Minneapolis to Los Angeles and the fifth time in franchise history.

As if suffering another disappointing season and seeing superstar Kobe Bryant go down with another season-ending wasn’t bad enough, a restaurant in Los Angeles accidentally or perhaps intentionally congratulated the Lakers for their “amazing” playoff run.

With the Los Angeles Clippers coming a couple wins shy of the Western Conference Finals and the Lakers not even coming close to clinching a playoff spot, this ad by Upper West is like pouring salt in an open wound for Lakers fans.

The Lakers weren’t expected to do much this season, but it was tough to watch regardless. A team so familiar with contending for titles or at least making the playoffs failing to make the postseason was a tough pill to swallow for the passionate fan base in Los Angeles.

The wholly focused on food…makes it seem like the lakers instead of clippers was intentional

  • TheTruthKills

I’m pretty sure they were trolling the Lakers

and now, the restaurant gets free publicity.

check off one restaurant I will never go to. They might serve the ‘wrong’ meal, or one different from what you ordered.

  • Sti1lmatic

Everyone will be singing a different tune next season. They and all the “Laker fans” that jumped the band wagon to the Clippers.

    • Jim213

      Same goes for…

Don’t forget what Tim Duncan’s gf says:

  • Zimmeredge

man Russ Smith could be the steal of the upcoming draft. mid second rounder with a lot of power. a small pg but hell of a good. he’s showcasing his talent at a mini combine/workouts in LA right. the dude is doing it all.
if we are not satisfied by our #7 we should consider down trading our pick honestly. they are a lot of good players under the radar.

    • Jim213

      Not too low.

      • Zimmeredge

Between 30 and 40 you still have good players in the second round. The first round, on 30 players more than 20 players could be useful to the Lakers imo.

        • Jim213

Not saying they shouldn’t consider trading down th) depending on who’s available (7th) but just shouldn’t consider dropping somewhere around the middle for their 1st rounder.

When IMO the top 12 players show good promise to being solid contributors in a starting rotation (depending where they land).

    • VillainKing

No, keep the #7th pick Lakers then draft a great point guard name Marcus Smart.!.

      • Zimmeredge

Smart will have no effect for us alongside Kobe except his defensive package. You have to get someone who can play with or without the ball. A true pg. A guy who’ll facilitate the game and be the open Man when Kobe has the ball. And because they’ll be 4 good pg available in the fa and the more during next summers it’s not interesting to get smart. I love him. He is talented but i’ll rather see him play alongside oladipo or rondo both the celtics and the magic are in desperate needs for his combo guard profil. We don’t. We need a true passing pg. A guy who can organize the game in the future and be effective with Kobe.
Kyle Anderson, Smith, ennis, payton, Smith are all better at passing.
Vonleh, Gordon and randle are our prime target at 7. Other than that we will trade the guy. We are interviewing wingman like Warren and hood too. Those guys are expected in the mid-end of the first round. And we interviewed Smith who’s expected as a early second rounder.

        • VillainKing

For me, Smart will become more effective playing with Kobe..He is a scoring PG and also plays very impressive defense that is why we need team chemistry..Kobe and Smart must have good chemistry to bring the Lakers another championship..

      • Chrmngblly

        Gordon.

        • VillainKing

          No Gordon! Yes Smart!

  • Dana Douglas

Yeah, they were trolling the Lakers in the hope that the ad would get lots of buzz. Which it has. And now this page has helped the restaurant by doing an article on it. Boo.

  • LAstory

This will always be a Laker town period…point blank….
