Report: Steve Nash Was Promised Pau Gasol Will Not Be Traded

The Los Angeles Lakers had one of the best off-seasons in league history this summer with the additions of Steve Nash and Dwight Howard. Nash was the first one to join the Lakers, and Howard eventually teamed up with the two-time NBA MVP.

Nash and Howard joined an already talented Lakers team which included Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol, forming one of the best starting fives in the league.

Gasol is one of the most skilled big men in the NBA, and even though he is struggling now, there is a good chance he gets his act back together. Gasol has the ability to stretch the floor with his mid-range shooting, and he can also do a great job of finding teammates for open looks. A Nash/Gasol tandem is something not many teams can compete against, and according to Ric Bucher, Nash was told that Gasol will not be traded when he signed with the team.

When Steve Nash signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, a source says he was promised that Pau Gasol would not be traded.

The Mike D’Antoni system is made to be run by an elite point guard, and Steve Nash is the perfect fit for this offense. Everyone involved with the Lakers is hoping that Gasol can improve once Nash returns to the lineup. This team is not playing to the level that it should be playing at, but there is a chance that Nash can help with the process.

Nash and Gasol are two playmaking athletes, and a lot of great can come if they are both on the same page. However, if Gasol continues to struggle even with Nash in the lineup, there’s the possibility that he will end up getting dealt.

      What’s your problem?

        Economy is the problem.
Economy is recovering. Some people who are ignorant tend to behave in this manner. American telling other American to leave country.
Logically you can understand the frustration of Brandon. This is the situation that all Americans are going thru…job cuts, reduced hours, no jobs, people working two jobs….
If Brandon think this is his world then he should stop immigration process otherwise it is not his world. He should stop international players from playing in NBA if it is his world. Stop importing the best talent/cream of other nations into U.S.
I see clear frustration and resentment for others in Brandon. However, he is not accepting his own flaws and government flaws. In life no matter who you are, what you are or where you are from. You have to work hard to move forward in life in difficult circumstances like the days we all are going thru.

The reason why Bynum had this point numbers,or Dwight can become a great scorer, is Pau. Nash was told Pau wouldn’t be traded to play alongside the most effective big guy of the league, another teamplayer with the skills to pass, to score, to read the game and make the right decissions. When LA play looking for Pau, LA wins both games and championships. Pau and Nash are among the very few who don’t make basketball a predictable game. And Nash knows.

      I agree.

Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash. 2 of the greatest talents of a generation of great talent. 2 players that the whole league will admit know basketball inside and out. 2 of the best and they both absolutely want Gasol on their team. But so many “experts” and “fans who know what they are talking about” won’t stop with the trade scenarios.
