According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports the Lakers have reached an agreement with free agent Jason Kapono.

Kapono was seen working out at the Lakers practice facilities earlier this week. Kapono’s deal with Los Angeles will be for the veteran’s minimum.

The official announcement cannot be made until Friday when the free agency period officially begins.

Kapono won the NBA three-point competition in 2007 and 2008, and spent the last several seasons as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers.

What a terrible pick up. 4 years past his prime and another sf on the team. What is Mitch doing? Get us some real talent!

A 3pt shooter is something the Lakers have been lacking for a while and thought they had fixed with Steve Blake last year. Kapono is a low-risk, real 3pt threat that will help spread the floor . . . . if we signed him at the MLE, then I would agree with you that it would be a terrible pick-up, BUT we got him for the veteran’s minimum. Relax!

I have to agree and say this is a good pick up to help spread the floor. A shooter like kapono can get “hot” any game and turn into a threat. We all know lakers have lacked in this department! Hopefully it turns out for the better this season!
