Playoff Preview: The Dangerous Denver Nuggets

Of course the Laker fan inside of me that hemorrhages purple and gold throughout would love to jump the gun and simply say, “Yeah! We’re going to smash on them”, but as I have said before, I love analyzing the team too much and I have to consider all angles and possibilities to this issue.

So far, the Lakers are 1-2 against Denver with what could be the single most significant game of our season coming on April 8th at the Pepsi Center on prime time TNT. Now, crunching numbers is not my forte, but it doesn’t take a genius to realize that 2-2 is much preferred to 1-3.

If our boys can dig deep, show up for 48 minutes, and let the Nuggets know that we’re the defending champs, I cannot begin to express my giddy school girl excitement for a possible seven game series in the Western Conference Finals, which I do believe will go the full distance.

Seven games of Artest vs. Melo, Kobe vs. J.R. Smith, Chauncey vs. all of our point guards quite frankly, and the battle of the bigs. All of that with a ticket to the NBA Finals riding on the line? What more could you possibly want in a playoff match?

The fan in me craves such an epic series because that’s exactly what makes the NBA a damn beautiful league and the best that the professional sports world has to offer.

To quote Mr. Smith, “Don’t get me wrong Kobe is great but not when he play me.”

Well J.R., thank you for making me gush with anticipation to see the Mamba’s retort, which is sure to come. Oh yeah, by the way, you do realize that you are wearing Kobe’s kicks right?

Just checking.
