Throwback jerseys have become more and more popular over the years with sports fans around the country keeping stars of the past alive by sporting their jerseys from their playing days.

Clothing company Mitchell & Ness recently used jersey sales from 2014 to figure out the best-selling throwback jerseys in each state around the country. Some of the jerseys in certain states aren’t all that surprising. Troy Aikman leads the way in Texas, John Elway dominates the competition in Colorado and Larry Bird owns the top seller in Massachusetts.

Although Bird, Elway and Aikman aren’t surprising leaders in the states they become legends in over the course of their careers, one athlete’s popularity in terms of throwback jersey sales is a bit strange.

Kobe Bryant, who is the only active player on the map of top-selling throwbacks, leads the way in seven different states. Ironically enough, California is not one of them with Joe Montana formerly of the San Francisco 49ers being the top seller rather than the Los Angeles Lakers superstar.

Among the states in which Kobe’s number eight throwback jersey are Oregon, Nevada, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio, Tennessee and Delaware.
