Orlando Dares Challenge Lakers Nation to Tweet-Off

While I’ve been doing the twittercasts on @LakersNation , I’ve always wondered if there were other hardcore fans out there that try and do the same thing. For sure, I couldn’t be the only one have the time of my life doing play-by-play for the Lakers Twitter World! Well, I was right, @etanowitz from the Orlando Sentinel sent me a DM and told me that his fellow Orlando Magic Fans were pretty hardcore tweeters and wanted to throw down a challenge to see who reigns supreme in the NBA Twitter world!

The Tweet Off between Laker fans and Orlando fans on Twitter. Here’s how it works:

To the best Fans in the World:

During the games, tweet as much as you can and be sure to include the hashtag #GoLakers in your tweets.

To the unfortunate few who still believe in Magic:

During the games, tweet as much as you can and make sure to include the hashtag #BeatLA in all of your tweets.

Who wins?

At the end of each game, we’ll check Twitter’s trending terms (visible on the right side of Twitter.com when you are logged in or at Search.Twitter.com) to see which term ranks higher on the list.

There’ll be a winner for each game as well as a winner for the series overall. So when it’s all said and done, we’ll know whose fans tweet more.

We chose not to use #Magic and #Lakers because lots of people include both hashtags in all of their tweets, regardless of which team they are rooting for, so it wouldn’t be an accurate way to judge the contest. But feel free to continue including these terms in your tweets as well.

And Magic fans, I know #BeatLA focuses on LA as opposed to focusing on the Magic, but Magic fans have been using it since winning the Eastern Conference Finals, so there’s some momentum there.)
