Nike Has Debuted Its ‘Count On Kobe’ Campaign

countonkobeWith the unveiling of the new Kobe 8 System shoes, Nike has began it’s new, fantastic Count On Kobe campaign. #CountOnKobe revolves around the premise Kobe is as constant on and off the basketball court as anyone who has ever laced up a pair of sneakers. In the Nike press release, Kobe discusses what the Count On Kobe campaign is all about:

“I start every day with the desire to be the best, and I’m committed to doing what it takes to win and to being fearless on the court,” Bryant said. “I want to be the player my teammates and fans can count on day in and day out.”

The campaign revolves around a short film which collocates the dichotomy of Kobe’s game, work ethic, and “Black Mamba” nickname in a series of images that ties the whole #CountOnKobe platform in one nice, neat package. The series of time lapses and the tilt-shift effect during some of his highlights coupled with a shot of the Kobe 8s slithering into a pit of “snake shoes” are golden visuals in another great Kobe advertisement.

After a montage of Kobe highlights, shots of his off the court regimen, and thoughts about how fearless he is, the film ends with, “this is the way it was, this is the way it is, and this is the way it will be” which brings the Count On Kobe campaign full circle. We know what Kobe has been able to accomplish in the past, we can see what he’s still accomplishing right now, and he’s likely going to continue accomplishing greatness off of the court because of the Kobe System, and it’s one you can count on.
