Nike Basketball is Prepping Us to be Fearless

I arrived at Staples Center not quite sure what to expect, but due to the high amount of secrecy surrounding the event I knew it was going to be interesting. For those of you who don’t know, Nike Basketball has invited Lakers Nation to partake in a secret 2 on 2 tournament on All-Star Weekend. Our two representatives are going to be myself and Michael Goldsholl, since the owner of Lakers Nation, Gary Lee, will be out for his mom’s 60th birthday party.

Once inside the Staples Center a Nike representative met with me and told me to wait, and that he would give me the heads up when it was okay to enter the room.

It was finally my turn and the Nike rep gave me the nod, I entered a dark room. I immediately scanned the area and noticed a large, flatscreen television on one side and a wall of Kobe Bryant Nike gear on the other. I wasn’t quite sure what to do . . then the TV came on.

As the screen slowly flickered to life it showed a man wearing a dark, black Nike Hoodie on the screen. He began to talk in a synthesized demonic voice, and I realized he was giving me instructions. He told me that I have ten minutes to open the envelope in back of me and follow the directions.

The clock started ticking.

Inside the envelope were instructions, which I quickly read over. I was told to pick out a couple of shirts and logos for the ‘Los Fearless’ tournament, and then some shoes for the team as well. Just in case the weather turns sour they also let me pick out some Nike sweatshirts with the logo as well. It shouldn’t be a surprise that Nike is doing their best to weed out the fearless.

Check back for more, since you know Nike’s going to pull out something crazy again as the tournament gets closer.
