New Orleans to Host 2014 NBA All-Star Game

The NBA has announced that the city of New Orleans will host the 2014 NBA All-Star Weekend and all related festivities. The news was announced by NBA Commissioner David Stern following the league’s sale of the Hornets to Tom Benson, and reportedly confirmed Monday morning.

Houston is set to host next year’s festivities, and with Carnival scheduling conflicts the next possible date for New Orleans to host the event was 2014.

Part of the new lease agreement between the Hornets and the league was a future All-Star Game, and it looks as if the league is honoring that commitment as soon as possible.

This is an exciting announcement for the city of New Orleans, who just last week was facing the possibility of losing the Hornets.

There were rumors that the team might be relocated or possibly even contracted due to the financial difficulties the league was having.
