NBA: T-Wolves Agree To Trade Kevin Love To Cavaliers

UPDATE (9:52 AM): According to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski, Kevin Love has officially been traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a three-team trade:

There’s been endless speculation over the last few months surrounding the fate of superstar Kevin Love. It has been a foregone conclusion that Love would be traded by the Minnesota Timberwolves, but the destination has been unknown.

On Thursday, Love’s future became clear with Minnesota agreeing to trade the perennial to the Cleveland Cavaliers to play alongside LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, according to ESPN:

The Minnesota Timberwolves have reached an agreement in principle to trade Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers for No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins, 2013 No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett and a protected 2015 first-round draft pick, Yahoo! Sports is reporting.

Once LeBron announced that he’d be signing with the Cavs last month, Love heading to Cleveland became a realistic possibility. Although the Timberwolves seemed reluctant to trade Love, the prospect of bringing in a potential star in rookie Andrew Wiggins was too good to pass up on.

With Love joining LeBron and Irving in Cleveland, the Cavs may have become the team to beat in the Eastern Conference. The addition of Love helps bolster the frontcourt while also giving the team another scoring threat and arguably the best rebounder in the league.

Basically, LeBron left aging veterans Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami for a younger and more promising trio in Cleveland with Love and Irving.

At 25, Love still has a lot of basketball left in him while Irving, 22, still has yet to reach his true potential in the NBA. The combination of these three star players, along with Dion Waiters, Tristan Thompson and Anderson Varejao, have the potential to contend for a title right out of the gate next season.

Even though the Cavs have yet to play a game with this reconstructed roster, LeBron and company could be a force to be reckoned with for many years to come.

Again Lebron has another stacked team!! -_-

    • Spade

But this time he’s the unquestioned leader.

    • Joseph Apohen

Minnesota got screwed. Bennett is a bust. Wiggin is unproven

      • Orlando Foolridge

Love was leaving at the end of the year, getting really anything for him is a +. Even if Wiggins has a 25% chance of being a multiple time all star, it’s better than being left with nothing when Love leaves. I think Minnesota actually got a bit overpaid, Love for Wiggins Straight up seems about equal value considering everything.

        • João Hassun

I think that Cleveland will get Corey Brewer and Love, T-Wolves get Wiggins 1st rounder and Thadeus Young, 76ers get JJ Barea and something else. The trade will look really like this.

  • Nore

Jeanie should petition to the league office to have this trade revoked like that fuck Dan Gilbert did to the CP3 trade.

    • Al Haldie

Get over it, its done and over with..

      • Nore

Really? Because I was hoping that maybe some day Adam Silver would give him back.

    • 3339

nah, she won’t stoop to his selfish level. when people face adversity or when something doesn’t go their way, thats when you see who they really are.
gilbert showed that he is a whiney bitch
Jeanie and the rest of the Buss family along with the whole front office and roster have shown class and determination (Kobe).
      Go Lakers!!!

      • magikwyrkz4u

I would add Mark Cuban in the same class as Gilbert too. Another whiney birch. He was was crying just like Gilbert over that trade.

        • Chrmngblly

Except it worked and they got their way over us.

      • Chrmngblly

Bullshit. Jerry Buss would have fucked Gilbert over the first chance we got. Jeanie has no balls. That pothead Jim Buss is a loser.

    • Matt Williams

Jeanie is 10x better than that. Dan Gilbert is slim and will always be know as a shithead owner.

      • maurice

A shit head owner who manipulated the system and will no doubt end up with chamoionships.

        • maurice

          Championships

    • Paytc

I agree. But she won’t ,and it wouldn’t stop Dan Gilbert and the NBA from doing exactly what they want to do regardless. If the fans get to a point where they think the NBA is getting to be as credible as wrestling they won’t support it.

That may be the only way those in power seats stop abusing power.

      Go Lakers!

    • Maxx Daxx

How about Dan Gilbert vetoing his own trade. LOL

      • Maurice

How about Dan Gilbert and Sterling being the same person.Labron forgave one for being racist but not the other.Racism is always overcome with capitalism.

    • LS

I agree!!! But so glad Lakers missed out on another “Superstar” who doesn’t play defense!!!

  • Duckathon

That’s probably the best package the rebuilding T’Wolves could of got for Love, compared to other superstar strades.

    • meep

you add that to what they have watch out for the wolves. wolves will be fun to watch with all that young talent

      • Dorian Holden

I disagree with you guys. I don’t think Bennett can play at all. Total bust! I also think Lavin is all flash and no substance. Rubio still can’t shoot and although I think highly of Wiggins he is two years away from being big time. They finish in the bottom 5 in the league in my opinion.

  • David

It only makes sense why the Cavs drafted Wiggins as they wouldn’t want a player that was raw and is not NBA ready; Parker is the more sure thing but the Wolves and Cavs probably already had a handshake agreement to trade Love involving these major trade pieces.
On another issue; now that Love is out of the Lakers future even though we all knew that he would have been LA’s best chance at an elite FA does anyone believe Westbrook would even consider coming to LA without any major piece for a title contending team? Would KD or anymore elite players left in 2016 and beyond?
It’s going to be a long dry run for us Lakers fans and our lottery picks from 2015,2017 is going to other teams. Rebuilding should be this offseason but without role players signing to a longer than a one year term; it would appears we’re rebuilding one year at a time and then rebuild the year and then the next until we land a Labron type savior or MJ or Magic or Bird type savior. This will be decade or more and I’m being realistic with the way FO is rebuilding each and every year.

    • Maxx Daxx

Shit happens all the time, good or bad. Just hope the good shit goes to the Lakers.

  • meep

i wanted to see the cavs try to win with wiggins and co not be heat 2.0. good for the wolves though now they have so much young talent they could be good for years to come

    • VETO

Those young players will leave too

      • Spade

Yep. Wiggins and Bennett will eventually abandon the Wolves and go to Toronto. Lavine will be out of there as well.

      • DKWTTY

That cocky lil dude Lavine will be first out.

    • Maurice

Minnesota is a d- league team for the league.Lakers will get their future stars from there.Just see us in three years with randle and wiggins. In mitch we trust, all others ” bust”!!

  • Okaaay

I never bought the whole “I’m coming back home because I love being home” narrative that LeBron and his camp have been spewing. Losing in the NBA Finals gave LeBron the perfect escape to leave Miami. Does anyone believe LeBron really leaves Miami if the Miami Heat beats the Spurs? LeBron literally dictated the terms of his arrival to the Cleveland front office and through Cleveland’s dumb ‘luck’, now they’re shipping out the TWO number 1 picks of the past 2 years for freaking Kevin Love because LeBron said so. This is beyond lunacy.

Lastly, I don’t like to rant very much but f*ck Dan Gilbert and Cleveland. It’s ok to bitch about LA having a super team but it’s fine and dandy when he gets his? After he trashes his superstar for leaving through a childish 6th grade letter? I hope he gets his ass handed to him when the current bargaining agreement ends.

    • meep

the cavs are just heat 2.0 now but now he can say he won at home if he got a ring. it stupid it would of been better if he won a ring with the young talent they had.not win as heat 2.0

    • Spade

The next CBA will favor the players. The owners can’t use profit as an excuse anymore since Ballmer raised the values of all teams with his purchase of the Clippers. And small market teams can’t argue lack of star power now that Cleveland is a super team and potential dynasty in the making.

      • Okaaay

I have always held the belief that the argument of parity was a straw-man argument for the owners looking to protect themselves from the egregious contracts that they were giving away. Thus, losing them money in the process.

The NBA today is more popular than ever and continues to grow globally at a fast pace. I completely agree with you that argument for the owners, with regards to profit, has no leg to stand on when they get back to the bargaining table. The players and the agents know they got stiff armed by the owners.

I, for one, would like Dan Gilbert to get punched in the face.

    • DKWTTY

lol Only delusional sheep of the media believed that. Miami was failing so he jumped ship yet again and is bringing in more superstars to help him win more titles. People were delusional to believe that PR bullshit of returning home to “right a wrong”. It was PR move. This is all a win for Lebron. He gets a chance of more titles, he gets to sell more jerseys/merchandise, he gets good PR and more “likability”. I never saw what was so good about him going back, it was all about him. Always! It was never about the fans or Cleveland like he tried to make it out to be. Ring chasing yet again.

      • magikwyrkz4u

Personally, I have never liked the man. He is completely arrogant and full of ego. He may play well, but he never plays fair.

      • Maurice

Labron learned his trade to be a mercenary from Shaq.

    • Maurice

Now you know why Labron got cramps in the finals and players from both teams didnt.Labron will eventually be nba commissioner. Lol! Hmmm…

  • LakerSpartan117

Where’s David Stern when you need him?? BASKETBALL REASONS!!!

But on a serious note, this is ridiculous. LeBron can’t handle the load of carrying a team AT ALL. I mean he can’t just have a young talented team with a lot of potential and upside, and be the leader everyone says he is (ESPN heads). No he has to have not ONE all-star on his team… He has to have a 2nd all-star on his team to share the load. A debatable top-5 PG and the best stretch/rebounding PF in the game today. What a joke..

Watch when those Irving/Love get hurt and LeBron has to again carry the load, he’s gonna DEMAND another Superstar..

    • meep

heat 2.0 kyrie irving is a younger wade, lebron is lebron and love is a younger bosh. so he left the heat to make heat 2.0.while the wolves get stack with young talent

      • LakerSpartan117

Except Bosh is a better defender than Love and arguably a better 3-point shooter, and Wade worked on his game to the point where he was proficient at it. Kyrie is a terrible defender and has to have the ball in his hand to be useful.

It took Wade time to adjust to LeBron holding the ball all the time, but he was more experienced and older when it happened. So he understood what he had to do. Kyrie is still young and somewhat immature, it will take a lot longer to adjust.

        • meep

cavs are still heat 2.0 even if wade and bosh were better

          • LakerSpartan117

Ok Jesus man I get it…. heat 2.0

    • Maurice

If Labron was really the KING he would fight his way thru the WEST,instead of trickin in the soft bellied east.

  • LakerSpartan117

But good for the Wolves, because they get a player with superstar potential in Wiggins, and Bennet who I feel will have have a better year this year than last. I honestly believe Mike Brown stunted his growth. And then a protected 2015 1st round pick. Overall a great trade for them, but again at what cost.. giving the “King” what he wants and helping Cleveland become a powerhouse..

The good news though is that if Cleveland does get this trade to go down, they will be cap strapped for the next 3-5 years. Meaning they will go over the luxury tax and only be able to sign one year deals for a long long time. 3 players being paid max money is never a very good situation. They’ll have to settle on D-league players as back-ups/role players and that will put so much pressure on their Big 3 to produce each game!! At least there is some light from this situation!

    • meep

wolves now have rubio ,wiggins, lavine,Bennett and shabzz if the trade happens and you can add glen Robinson III if they keep him

      • LakerSpartan117

        I hate the Muppets…

    • Laker truth

Not entirely true if the cavs have as much success as the heat had seasoned vets will take less to play on that roster just like the situation in Miami ( Shane battier) (Ray allen) etc.

      • LakerSpartan117

Usually those seasoned vets don’t actually have the impact they’re thought to have though. Ray Allen’s contribution to the Heat was really only highlighted by his GW 3 in the finals against the Spurs, but other than that he wasn’t as big a factor (again bad defender who couldn’t keep up with the younger players and 3 pt % wasn’t great). Shane Battier was the same thing, a non-factor accept in those finals games where he and Mike Miller were on FIRE from 3.

      • Spade

Taking a pay cut in Miami makes more sense than taking one in Cleveland. There’s no state income tax in Florida and Miami is a much more vibrant city than Cleveland. Playing with the Big 3 was icing on the cake.

    • Maurice

Whatever dude! If the trade was planned in advance, (which it was)you best believe every little detail for the KING has been taken care of.Miller,Ray Allen, and a cesspool of others.

  • David

Quote from Jeannie Buss “the Lakers is still the best organization in the nba”; best for what? She is confused because it is still the best in terms of non basketball related activities but it is no longer the best on the basketball floor because you have incompetent individuals running the team. So no free agents don’t see it as best place to play and win titles.

    • Daniel

Jenny says Lakers as an organization, not as a basketball team, as it is. But you ask anyone in Korea, in Thailand, in Brazil, in China, in France, and India, and everybody knows who the Lakers are.
Those same people, do not even know what the Cavaliers is. is that a street? a person?
All that means money, and even though today that does not give you a championship, it is better to have it than not have it. Clev. had all things going for them, they had 2 first round picks in a row, they had cap room, and they had Lebron, that at this point, he is the one running the show, not Gilbert.
But I can bet you one thing, if they do not win 2-3 championships in a row, every player will be running for its exit.

      • David

If you’re referring to it as an organization then it is very vague, it translate to saying that we are best management and the best team in addition it is an attractive place for players to be in terms of other opportunity example: acting, world exposure, commercials etc.
Right now it is not the best organization because you only have Kupchak who is competent in the FO and he doesn’t even have final say. You also don’t have a good team, these are two of the most important factors for elite FA, not the other secondary factors.

    • Spade

She’s half right. She’s doing her job, which is to make the Lakers as profitable as possible. From a money and marketing standpoint there is no competition. But the way she enables her imbecile brother (the guy in charge of basketball decisions) is inexcusable.

    • Maurice

I agree wholeheartedly. Just the fact that she has to say that proves we are not. Those two bone head decisions the FO made for coaches set this whole debacle in motion.

  • Vince Staley

Apparently, Love has already agreed to sign a 5 yr.-120 million at seasons end. Terrible news for the Lakers !

    • meep

oh well lakers can get better a different way

    • magikwyrkz4u

DO NOT CARE whether Love ever becomes a Laker and he use to be one of my favorite college players. He is just a liar in my eyes saying he wanted to be a Laker but then goes chasing Labron’s ass to Cleveland.

      • Maurice

        That sounds too gay!

    • Maurice

What’s Love got to do with it?What’s Love but a second hand emotion. Lol!

  • MohamedLakersFan

So the so called ”King” just fled a team that dominated the NBA because the players just got old and announced that he’s coming back to his so called ”home” and asked the management and the worst owner in sports history and the biggest Lakers hater to get him another All-Star cause he can’t win with only one All-Star and he needs a Big 3 wherever he goes and after that people consider him a great player?????? This was all set up by David ” Bitchass ” Stern and he retired before everything happened so he could appear as innocent BUT all what happened was his setting so his ” friend ” LeBitch could get more rings and pass Kobe. And now No team owner would whine about this deal going on and the cavaliers becoming a top tier team again BUT when the Lakers try to aquire Chris Paul everyone whines and screams against the Lakers and David ” Bitchass ” Stern blocks that trade because of ” Basketball reasons ” while the only reason is that he didn’t want Kobe to get another ring. This is the NBA the biggest corrupted sports organization in the entire world.

    From a Diehard Lakers Fan.

    • Daniel

Cleve, better hope Love does not go down with an injury because they would be fu… No more money available, no drafts picks, not much of a young future. LBJ proved, he is not able to carry a team, they way, Jordan, Magic, Bird or Kobe have done. Without the other 2 stars LBJ an not do it.
For Clev, is today, that is their chance to become, somehow relevant in this league. Not tomorrow, not in a few years, now. So they better do it, or otherwise it will be ugly

      • DKWTTY

Well he’s injury prone so it might happen.

      • Kb24

Dude, lBj is coming off a 3 straight finals appearance,if he tries to go 4 straight i wont be shock if he will be injured, as for love, didnt reach the playoffs as well, he maybe reaching his prime but it takes time to cope with playoffs than reg season

    • Spade

So it’s bad that an all-star wants to play with other all-stars to compete for championships? Isn’t that what our franchise history is built off of. Teaming superstar a with superstar b, and hall of famer c to win? Didn’t we team Jerry West, Gail Goodrich, and Wilt Chamberlain together? Didn’t we team Magic, Kareem, and Worthy together? Hell, Showtime had 4 number one picks on one team in 88-89. Didn’t we team Kobe and Shaq together?

And you think Stern is concerned about Kobe and LeBron’s ring count? The only people concerned about their ring count are the Kobe fans because that argument is their last crutch against the LeBron fans. Kobe (and even Jordan fans) are threatened by the mere mention of LeBron’s name. He’s great. Get over it.

Basketball reasons was a crime against all things basketball, but it’s time to move on. CP3 is a Clipper now. Gilbert got his cake and will be eating it up next season with his own super team. Nothing is changing that. And again, Stern does not give 2 sh*ts about Kobe’s ring count. If he cared that much Jordan would have more rings than Russell.

      From a Realistic Lakers Fan.

      • DKWTTY

I don’t think that was the gist of his post. He’s more so complaining that the Cavaliers are getting away with doing what the Lakers were denied and the ring leader in shutting the Lakers deal down was the Cavaliers owner who complained about super-teams. It’s hypocritical and the NBA if full of double standards.

The only people who care about rings are Kobe fans? You sure about that? He has 5 which is 3 more than Lebron. Kobe fans aren’t threatened by that, it was Lebron fans who were and still are. They want him to get more so they can finally say he’s better and this is coming from a Lakers fan that has no problem admitting Lebron is great. Your argument is off base. Jordan fans are DEFINITELY not threatened. There’s really no argument when it comes to Lebron vs Kobe or Jordan.

        • Spade

Of course the NBA is full of double standards. Sometimes they favor your team and sometimes they don’t. It’s the nature of the league.

Yeah I’m sure. Whenever I read, hear, or participate in player debates it always comes up. LeBron fans point out LeBron is the best player in the world today (fact) and the best small forward ever (fact). As soon as that happens Kobe fans run to the ring count as a safe haven (like you just did). And some fans have a huge problem with LeBron and refuse to acknowledge him. It happens everyday. And when the Jordan talks start it gets worse. We’re watching a top 3 all time player in his prime and insecure fans want to throw mud at his name for doing it his way (teaming with all-stars, being a team player, dominating at a breath taking efficiency rate).

          • DKWTTY

The rules and reasoning should apply to all teams. You can’t deny one team the chance to be a “super team” then allow another team to do so.

You mentioned ring count first of course I’m going to address that IN RESPONSE TO YOU. I didn’t toss it in there as a fact to say Kobe was better! Lebron is not the best small forward ever, how is that a FACT? He’s arguably the best player in the world, that’s not a fact either. A FACT is that Kobe does indeed have five rings. Who cares if fans have a problem with him? Fans hate Kobe too and tons of other players. I’ve never seen Kobe fans do that and rings is a valid argument anyway. Now Lebron fans do it to Kevin Durant fans. The “best player in the world” lost TWO TIMES with a great team around him so he has no more excuses for his Finals L’s or not having enough rings. The Jordan talks SHOULD be worse because it’s blasphemous to compare anyone to him let alone Lebron. Top 3 all time? Seems like you’re just a Lebron fan and therefore no one is allowed to dislike him because you think he’s so great. I don’t know anyone who throws mud at his name for “dominating at a breath taking efficiency rate”. Everyone who has even an average basketball IQ knows Lebron is great, most of his criticism stems for the Decision, teaming up with two other superstar to rings chase, his flopping, his losing in the Finals, etc. All SOLID criticism. No one is immune to it.

        • Maurice

Labron fans are Jordans fans. Its a east coast thing.Kobe rules the west.Im a Laker fan in the midwest and for years I’ve battled Jordan fans, replaced by Labron Miami(bandwagon fans)now the bandwagon is heading back to Cleveland.Sterns only concern was power and who could get into bed with him.MJ is a basketball god in Olympus supposedly threatened by Labron.Kobe? Unfortunately? He’s collateral damage. In other words he threatened MJ throne. The Chris Paul debacle. The league kills off Jerry Buss (unknown cancer), forces the buss family to ignore PJ and hire two bumbling oaf coaches, and voila!! There you have it.A rebuild and no tying ring for Kobe.Dont you get it?Kobe made billions for the league (owners)and they won’t let him break MJ ring record. But Labron (metaphorically speaking) is the new threat to the throne.Thats why he’s called the “KING”.Why do you think Kobe and MJ met for lunch? My bad!I’m a conspiracy theorist.New game in nba is about thrones.Wake up!!

      • Kb24

Cp3 trade was vetoed to avoid dyansty,to form dynasty a team must go FAs, not trades, so y approve this lopsided trade when they vetoed the win win trade in the deal of cp3?

    • Maurice

We had a big four in the past.Kobe Shaq Malone Payton.Just didn’t pan out.

  • Mr.Barboza

Call me crazy, but for some reason I didn’t want him playing with the Lakers, there’s something about him that I just don’t like, but I don’t know what is it exactly…

    • Daniel

In a league full of average players, another overblown player, same as Melo. They can be a very good supporting cast, but can not lead, otherwise the TW would have done a lot better.

      • Mr.Barboza

Damn I was thinking the same thing!! I mean he’s a good player but he’s not a player that wants to win, he’s not a player that wants to be a leader.

    • Spade

You wouldn’t be saying that if he was playing for us. Everyone and their mother kept singing the praises of Love even though he’s never led his team to the playoffs, plays no defense, and is a locker room cancer. Now that he’s not coming everyone is ready to give him sh*t.

      • Mr.Barboza

I’m serious, even when there were changes of him playing with L.A, I just didn’t like him, if I could choose any superstar to play with the Lakers, Kevin Love would be on the bottom the list and Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving right on top, but of course if he played with us I wouldn’t talk thrash about him because that’s just something fans don’t do with their team’s players.

        • 90skid

“wouldn’t talk thrash about him because that’s just something fans don’t do with their team’s players” really bro? so we have never talked smacked about our own players

          • Mr.Barboza

Believe or not, I never say a single thing, I might think about it, but I never say it, I prefer to send good vibes to my team’s players than bad ones.

    • DKWTTY

His numbers are insane but I see what you mean.

    • Maurice

      HE’S FAKE!!!

      • Mr.Barboza

What? O_O You’re calling me fake just because I didn’t cut my veins for Kevin Love? a dude that just can’t get to the playoffs because he’s not a leader or a winner at all? yep that makes sense.

  • Andrew Hirigoyen

The best part is I actually really enjoy watching Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving play. This should be an interesting team to watch :] It’s not the Lakers but as a basketball fan I am happy to see this happening for Love and Irving.

  • Spade

How ironic. Dan Gilbert involves himself in the Lakers trade for CP3 because he’s opposed to super teams. And now he turns around and builds one himself and it’s all smiles and hallmark cards.

Well I guess the 2015 free agent class is officially up in smoke.

    • Jim213

Nah, this is why been saying (since last 7/2013) to build a team first and worry about the biggest piece after. FO needs to and likely will go at it piece by piece. Still solid talent in 2015 but if FO focuses on the big fish first rather than some good role players for the starting rotation (like Melo this off season given he to a wk to decide) they’ll likely be passing up on some talent for the starting rotation. Let’s not forget the trade deadline too…

      • Ray-Marcus

These guys are no better than the bulk of this year’s crop! I think we can effectively cross the spurs guys off the list. I see the FO overpaying for Lillard for commercial reasons because he is a big name. This rebuild might last until 2016, unfortunately

      • Kb24

No chance on marc he will be on nyk or stay in mem,dj will stay, asik and bigl al realistic and attainable, also rumors have spread that rondo requests a trade to lakeshow, hope mcbuckets prove his worth to chicago and let jjim butler walk(to lakers baby!) looking for ward to RONDO/drag/bledsoe,KOBE,Jim butler(best lbj,kd,kobe stopper b4 kawhi)BIG AL-AASIK(will complement big al weaknesses) bench will be led by swag and randle

  • Richard

Well at least it’s finally done. History has shown that Teams with superstar talents alone, does not necessary win Championships. It’s a combination of bringing the right Talent/Skills together to get the right Chemistry that usually wins Championships. A recent example is the chemistry of the champion Spurs beating the very talented Miami Heat. The Lakers will have a plan to get back to title contention as soon as possible but it may take some solid planning, some good timing and a little luck. We fans just have to pray, have faith and most of all patience.

  • Richard

Understand Lebron is acknowledged as the best player in-the-world. It’s natural for him to try to win as many NBA titles as he can before he retires. It’s expected. At 25 years old, 5 years n the NBA, Kelvin Love has proven to be one of the best players in the NBA. As with other superstars he now wants to win a championship. With Lebron and Irving he and Cleveland now have a very good chance to win the title starting next year and beyond. It’s not guaranteed, as other top teams also have a chance to win the title. We have to wait and see how this plys out.

  • JIMBUSSdriver

    That’s
was what all you dumbass front office and fans get thinkin “Wait till
next year and we can get him, or wait till the year after that to get
this guy!” It’s not even guaranteed that these players will ever even
get to see free agency (Krie Irving, Kevin Love) Waiting is stupid. You
must be looking to improve your team at all times. Tanking is worse,
because when you tank you get left off with ZERO players with any trade
value when a player like Love goes on the block. . . Moral of the story:
    Never wait to get good.

    • LakersTank

Even without tanking, it’s not easy to land an All-Star without giving up major assets. Watch this year FA, there are too many poison pill contracts given to B/B+-grade players. There is no way Wolves are going to accept those contract for Kevin Love. When we landed D12, we gave up Bynum who also an All-Star.

Whether you like it or not, the best way for the Lakers to acquire asset for rebuilding or trade is from draft by tanking. Imagine top 5 next year + 1st rounder from Houston. Even if the Lakers don’t like them, we can simply package them in exchange for top player.

  • LakersTank

    There goes Kevin Love.

I have said it many times here, the best way for the Lakers to acquire young stars for rebuilding is by tanking hard this season. Get back our 1st rounder from Suns.

  • wangkon936

Well, there goes some of our 2015 FA dreams.

    Okay, LaMarcus Aldridge in 2015!!!

    • The Neptunes

He already openly stated he’s going to resign in Portland, we don’t need a PF, we have Randle

  • Matt Williams

Kevin Love has never been proven. I can never put his name with the likes of Kobe or Lebron. He’s never been to the playoffs in his career. At least Durant went to the finals once in his life, but Kevin is a 2nd to 3rd option, not a guy that’s considered a headliner. To be honest there are no more headliners in the NBA aside from Bron, KB and KD. Other than them there are just average players. Besides, as far as needing a PF, we have Randle. An up and coming player with potential. Let Love stay in CLE.

  • Eman94

It might be envy or jealousy but I can’t help but lose respect for Kevin Love and dislike LeBron James even more now. It’s really easy to hate a couple guys who want to form a superstar team but if the Lakers could form a superstar team then everyone would be all for it. I mean the Lakers once had the best PG ever in Magic Johnson with possibly the best center ever in Kareem with one of the best power forwards of all time in James Worthy. I remember months ago everyone was hoping the Lakers can land Love and Irving to be alongside Kobe once they’d be free agents. Every team has its moments and now the Cavs have theirs. Go Lakers! Lets beat that new three headed monster and crush Lebron and all his NBA bitches who followed him to Cleveland! I’m looking at you Mike Miller and Kevin Love and eventually Ray Allen and Shawn Marion!

  • rik

the lakers dont need love. in a few years randle will be punking griffen, love, aldridge, and anthony davis.
The lakers will be more in need of a rim protecting center, and an elite small forward.

    • Kb 24

I am hoping mdermott gets a nod from chicago and let jim butler move to the lakers at the 3,then improve randle at the 4 we need a pg(rondo,drsgic,bledsoe,0) and a center(m gasol, noah, brook lopez, big al or my dream to be a laker THE UNIBROW, ANTHONY DAVIS, KD EVEN SAID HES NXT ON D LINE, mj-kobe-lbj-kd-davis

  • 24Zz

well ad least the wolfs are going to be fun to watch I guess lol I can already see the Timberwolves line up pg Rubio ,sg lavine ,sf wiggins ,pf bennet , Center position not sure yet. but on the other hand it gives the cavs a greater chance of winning a champion ship which will totally suck , and lebron will have his 3rd ring. I can already imagine all sports news celebrating, they’ve been worshiping LeBron James since being drafted by the cavs . I still don’t think cavs are not giving enough to receive a superstar like kevin love, wiggin seems like a promising superstar in the near future but that’s not a sure thing and bennet is an ok player but not superstar in the works and future first rounder. na they need more to give up so teams should try to veto this trade unless the cavs should add more if they want to receive the likes of kevin love.

  • Joseph Apohen

With Kevin Love gone, there is not much hope for the Lakers to have a championship team in five years. With the team we have, no one wants to waste their time here. All of the free agents have basically signed long term contracts. There is nothing in the horizon except for Durant and Westbrook. I cannot imagine them coming here.

    • Duckathon

That’s why I think they should just rebuild through the draft. Pinning hopes on a big free agent signing is wishful thinking.

  • The Neptunes

Does anyone else think the NBA is sort of rigged in a way.. I mean LeBron wins MVP practically every year and every team he’s on has a shot at the title. When Kobe was in his prime years, he only won one MVP, when he could’ve won multiple MVPs and of course the CP3 trade being vetoed when LeBron was allowed to join the Heat and now getting Love in Cleveland to form another Big 3

    • Swaggy C

Basically the Cavs ever since they got Lebron when he was rookie were spoon fed to try and win a title. Even when he left, they got multiple #1 draft picks and STILL couldnt win. Once the Lakers had an opportunity to create a future super team of D12 and CP3 and KB24, Dan Gilbert cried to David Stern saying its unfair that we played by the rules of the CBA. Then as of this summer, they had a total of 4 #1 draft picks on their team (Lebron, Wiggins, Irving, and Bennett), but since they traded Wiggins and Bennett, they still have a team of how 2 #1 draft picks, 2 #4 draft picks (Waiters, Thompson), and 1 #5 pick in Love. So yeah it smells SKETCH and RIGGED all over!

    • LakerDev

I just think the NBA must have a hard on for Gilbert and the Cavs. They’ve had 3 #1 picks since Lebron left. Now this trade, and no one is shouting “basketball reasons”. The NBA must REALLY want Clev to win the title.

  • Maxx Daxx

At last a championship contender for Cleveland… I do hope they get an NBA championship in this season. Good luck Cavs!

  • Aaron

THEY ARE DESPERATE!!! Sorry LeBron is DESPERATE IN CATHING UP W/ KOBE FOR NBA TITLE

    • vdogg

lebron is a douche. when he left for MIA and people criticized him, he was all like, ‘why are people getting on me for leaving home? cleveland is not my home. i’m from akron, which is about an hour away.’ and now he’s all like, ‘i’m coming home, come home, tell the world that i’m coming home.’
yeah, no hypocrisy there at all.

  • kobe_888

I hope Kevin Love doesn’t sign the extension and leaves to LA like dwight did.

  • LakerDev

I guess trade vetoes only apply to the Lakers for “basketball reasons”. Well at least the Lakers can get a luxury tax check from Cleveland for once.

  • LakerDev

Ok, Im not hating, but openly wondering…how good is Lebron really if he needs stacked teams to win titles? How is he a 4-time MVP with stacked teams? Kobe won w/1 other star in 2 diff time periods. Jordan won w/1 other star. Magic had an older Kareem, and Worthy as another star. Duncan got Parker, but Ginobli isn’t a star anymore. Magic probably had the “most stacked” team during that era, but then again the celtics were stacked too. . . . Im sorry fellow Laker fans about the rant. Lebron is a good player, but he’s not a competitor, imo

  • Ray-Marcus

The front office needs to start getting creative with trades next season ASAP!! Lin, Swaggy and Hill should all be fair game for studs on bad teams….guys like Cousins, Dragic/Bledsoe, Vucevic because the 2015 Fa is not as stacked as we thought it was

  • john

pursue anthony davis he is a great player

  • http://people.ign.com/ltsjoemama ltsJoeMama

What a load of crap. The Wolves got bent over in this trade, but no veto from NBA owners? I hope the Bulls destroy the Cavs.

  • Kb24

Thats tough man, irving, dion, lbj, love, varejao, allen, miller, jones, tristan thomspon….anyway, i think there is under the table here, any side you see it is a lopsided trade, hope the nba veto this trade unless they really on lebron side, if its a 1 yr rental then ok but, since kyrie is a 5tr deal and lbj wants 5yr 150milmyr deal, love said he can do whatever lbj does(taking a paycut) if cavs will sign him to a 5 yr 120mil, they can only offer lbj a 4yr deal, but lbj accepts a 2ye deal w/player option bcoz he will re-sign w cavs fora 5yr max deal nxt yr… I AM ROOTING FOR THIS TRADE BE VETOED! Why? Bcoz cp3 ttrade was vetoed even if it was a FAIR DEAL,if thesetrade will be aaproved THEN NBA IS RUNNED BY LBJ….actually he shouldnt be called THE KING since THE REAL KING HAS ALREADY RETIRED IN NYK

  • Kb24

THE CP3 TRADE WAS VETOED BCOZ OF BASKETBALL REASONS THAT A CORE OF KOBE,CO, AND HOWARD WOULD BUILD A DYNASTY, MIAMI BUILD A BIG 3 THROUGH FAs, IM NOT AGAINST THAT, BUT THESE? TRADE FOR KEVIN LOVE SHOULD BE VETOED NO MATTER WHAT….MAYBE FOR BASKETBALL REASONS TOO….THOUGH IM LOSING MY MOOD TO WATCH NBA ESPECIALLY THERES A CHANCE IT COULD BE APPROVED SINCE LBJ AND ADAS ARE BEST FRIEDS NO PUN INTEDED….

  • Kb24

Kyrie, dion, lbj, love, varejao, ray allen, miller, jones, tristan thoms, shanw marion ….perfect coach for them? MIKE NO D ANTONI….if u know wat i mean….just look at their roster except marion, they all have one similarities…i already gave u a clue…Lol xD

  • Lakers4Life

Wow…how sad can this get for us Lakers. What should have happened witht the Lakers this off-season is happening in Cleveland.

We could have built a trio around LeBron and Kobe, but now all we’ve got this summer are a bunch of sub-par to overrated players with a coach with no true credibility except being an ex-Laker. It probably all started the moment we signed Kobe for an over-contract last year.

We have nobody who can really make a difference for the next few years, while Cleveland…wow, just wow. They just pulled all the strings necessary to become immediate championship contenders for the next several years, and they’re only going to get better if they convince people like Ray Allen to join them along with Miller and Jones.

Looks like the Lakers no longer have the “shine” we used to have in luring the big name free agents to the team. I wonder why…but this is sad.

  • kb24

they veto the cp3 trade for basketball reasons?(lets say its vetoed to avoid dynsaty)saying that its vetoed bcoz nba owns the NO that year, why cant adams veto this trade since he is the nba commisioner? oh, i forgot, adams and lbj are bestfriends….

  • kb24

    hoping laker fan nxt yr

    RONDO,cjwats,farmar
    KOBE,clark,x
    J.BUTLER,swagP
    BIG AL,randle
    ASIK,cliff alex/karl towns(hou’14 no.1 and 2,lakers 2019,2021 picks)

  • Truth B Told

It’s amazing the NBA playing dirty pool…..When the Lakers trade involving CP3 was consummated……Gilbert,Cuban etc threw a tantrum……Vetoing the deal which was better than the deal the Clippers gave them…..Now the same Gilbert doing what the Lakers was stop from doing(securing their future)….Never in NBA history was a deal stop after being agreeded to…….Ironically Stern decided to retire after he did his dirt…..I can’t fault the Lakers for that move.

  • Joseph Apohen

    Yeah, right. This is 2005!

  • Mr.Barboza

Let me remind you that trolling it’s for youtube, so get out of here dipshit, go to your racist team fan page (if they even have one). And why are you even liking your own comment, are you that sad?

  • Mr.Barboza

Dude are you in love with me or something like that? why are you commenting on every single comment I post, and again what the hell are you doing here, you’re a racist clipper fan aren’t you? I mean I know your team doesn’t have a fan page but you could go to a nazi’s fan page or a Ku Kux Klan fan page, It would feel the same as a clipper fan page (if they had one), a lot of racists with no life!! Oh and if you want you can check my previous comments where I clearly say that I didn’t want Love at all, even when there were chances of the Lakers signing him.

  • Mr.Barboza

    ——>LAKERS FANS ONLY<——-

  • CLIPPERSRUNLA

You said Lebron doesn’t wanna win. He signed w/the team that’s favored to win the Championships. So your argument really doesn’t make much sense. LOL, typical uninformed Lakerfan.
