NBA Rumors: Phoenix Interested In Love, Bledsoe To Get Max Contract?

With all of the continued turmoil going on in Minnesota, and Kevin Love’s future up in the air, teams are lining up to see if they can pry the All-Star away from the Timberwolves.

Most reports believe Love wants to end up in a big market like Los Angeles or Boston, but other teams such as Washington and Sacramento have emerged as possible destinations as well. Now another option has come up according to Yahoo! Sports’ Marc Spears:

The Suns undoubtedly have the assets to pull off the deal, the question is would Love actually stay there past this year if he was traded.

Goran Dragic made All-NBA Third Team this season, and Eric Bledsoe is one of the best young guards in the league. Additionally, the Suns have three first-round draft picks this year to sweeten a deal.

The Suns can offer far more than the Lakers in a trade, but with no guarantee that Love would stay there, it would be a lot for the Suns to give up.

It is also curious whether or not Bledsoe could garner a max contract this summer. Bledsoe is a restricted free agent and could be a target of the Lakers, but with injury issues and questions on whether he can be a true point guard, a max contract could be a steep price to pay.

Lakers offering Eric Bledsoe max deal???They are one of the only teams that need a point guard and have the salary cap space.Seriously is it the Lakers???

    • http://www.haveslot.com/ richard

He is not worth the MAX….I wouldn’t even offer him above 6M…. he was not even the best pg for the suns, it was Dragic…

      • Kyle

Before this goes any further their is no way in hell that Eric Bledsoe would agree to a sign and trade to cold ass Minnesota. He would never leave warm weather for freezing weather and a crappy Timberwolves team that has missed the playoffs 10 straight years. He must agree to the trade he won’t.So it’s not happening.

        • http://www.haveslot.com/ richard

Unless you are an insider, I wouldn’t put a period on him not leaving for Minnie… he might just leave with a high $$$ on the contract… He’s young, and will probably go for the money at this stage of his career. Kudos to him if he stays in the warm regions with lower $$$ contract.

            as Thelma explained I cannot
believe that a stay at home mom can make $7420 in four weeks on the internet .

Damn if it is the Lakers offering Eric Bledsoe the max deal and he signs it.Then look for the cheapest owner in sports Robert Sarver to not match it.Lakers will end up looking like this if they get Eric Bledsoe.Steve Nash is gone stretch provision.

    PG Eric Bledsoe Max Deal
SG Kobe Huge money paid out
SF Luol Deng Free Agent signing good deal.
PF Julius Randle Lottery selection at #7
    C Pau Gasol Hometown Discount

    • Omar

I hope they don’t match. Most likely they’ll draft Gordon or Smart at 7.

      • Rod

I am just tossing a power forward it could very well be Aaron Gordon or Noah Vonleh as much as it could be Julius Randle.I was just thinking Julius Randle since they would want a NBA ready player to appease Kobe Bryant.Otherwise Vonleh makes the most sense IMO.Because Pau could play inside while Vonleh sits out their doing a Chris Brosh impression from beyond the arc and 16-20 feet out.A stretch big man like Vonleh would work out.Sure they could use Julius Randle also especially if they hire Lionel Hollins as coach.

        • Badazztj12

I like a offense when both big men are in the paint. This will boost offense rebounding high. Paul is not an effective rebounder but he is a tipping beast. Vonleh is a great rebounder just like randle and has a look touch around the rim

      Or
      PG Smart
      SG Kobe
      SF Dang
PF Jordan Hill resign, Kelly as BU
      C Pau/Sacre
Costs less, just as good, and we have cap room in 2015 for Love

      • http://www.haveslot.com/ richard

You have a good point. I can’t argue with this lineup. I honetly think that Hill,Kelly,Sacre,Pau(less $$$), and Deng, can aptly handle the PF-Center positions… we can also bring in Okafor or Bynum on a 1 year contract to strengthen the front court.

I think this is what FO is also looking at, if they do keep the draft pick and Smart is available at the 7th pick. But instead of Deng I would go for Ariza.

        Smart(3M)
        Kobe(23M)
        Ariza(8M)
        Hill(MLE)
        Pau(10M)

That’s 44M, we still have $$$ to spend on other free agents like maybe LivingStone and our own FAs. If FO go this way, we may have a lineup of:
        LivingStone(3M)Smart(3M)
        Kobe(23)/Bazemore(2m)
        Ariza(8M)/Johnson(2M)/Henry(1m)
        Hill(mle)/Kelly(1M)/
        Pau(10m)/Sacre(1m)/Bynum(1m)

        Head Coach: Lionel Hollins

that’s roughly 55M salary not counting Nash. If they trade Nash back to Phoenix for a pick so that he can retire there, that would be really good for us.

    • Shane

How do Lakers sign Bledsoe (to max), Deng, and Gasol? There’s something called cap space…

      • Shane

        *salary cap

  • lakers4life

Eric Bledsoe is not worth a max contract from the lakers

  • http://rantsofascorpio.wordpress.com/ Evan

Let’s hope it doesn’t come to this. I get these are just rumors, “maybes” and “what ifs”, but as a fan I’d have a tough time understanding giving a lot of money to a player with serious questions and a history of injuries. Especially after the last two seasons.

I’d like to see the Lakers take this season to get under the luxury tax threshold and avoid the repeater tax while bringing in solid players (Deng, Smart/Gordon) to set us up for next offseason where we try to fill the final holes (Love and maybe Marc Gasol or Asik).

    • ur daddy is here

You have a tough time understanding giving a lot of money to player with a history of injuries, and you want the Lakers to sign Kevin Love who’s injured 3 out of the 6 years he’s been in the league??? You just defeated your own argument which also proves how stupid you really are, ahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!

      • http://rantsofascorpio.wordpress.com/ Evan

It’s cute how you overlooked the “serious issues” part. This article specifically states there are doubts about Bledsoe’s ability to play the point.

There are no doubt’s about Love’s ability to play the four. Injuries are a concern, sure.

I’m beginning to think you’ve got a crush on me, as often as you’re following me around this page. Now, if only you would stop hiding behind the guest names. But alas, that’d probably be too much to ask from someone who has such glaring insecurities.

  • Omar

I hope Bledsoe isn’t matched. Draft Gordon. Hire Hollins. Defense upgrades big time! Save some space for Love in 2015. It’s possible!

  • Edy

10 mil max no more than that the guys proven that he’s good but not great

    • http://www.haveslot.com/ richard

      Looks likely a 6M range contract….

      • Dorian Holden

No chance you get Bledsoe for 6 mil. You might get him for 10 if you throw all kinds of things in like a no trade clause or some type of posiion pill. Remember the suns only gave us Nash because we overpaid with two 1st. They will match just to spike the Lakers and then trade him somewhere. That’s why we gotta all in with something crazy like a no trade clause.

        • http://www.haveslot.com/ richard

Why would the Lakers take Bledsoe with that kind of money? he is not worth 6M…. if however they match the offer, that is still not an advantage for the Suns… what team will pay Bledsoe that money?

You are putting too much credit on the Suns FO just with the Nash deal… has they won anything kind of championship ring with that? Has their roster, made it to the playoffs? Yes, there may be more talent and youth on their roster, but it does not follow that they will be better than the lakers next season., would it?

          • Dorian Holden

Richard I think you are undervaluing Bledsoe worth around the league. He is gonna get closer to ten then six.

And no I don’t think the Suns have a great FO. I think the Suns hates the Lakers (Starver) and will match anything the Lakers offer Bledsoe. That’s why I threw out something I wouldn’t want the Lakers to do because if the Suns do match I want it to hurt them long term or tie them up with Bledsoe.

          • http://www.haveslot.com/ richard

I may be undervaluing Bledsoe, but no, with the way he plays, he has done nothing to merit 10M per year… his decision making and play making is suspect, in fact he is still learning it, 4 years into his career… Goran Dragic is better than him in every aspect of the game… and yet you are ready to give him 10M… I have a lot of questions.. ????

  • Lakers Realist

Well we all know David Kahn loves his point guards. Oh wait, Flip Saunders is not only the owner and the coach, but also the GM of the Timberwolves these days. This deal is doomed already.

  • Martin Moncada 626

    Pg. SMART
    SG. KOBE
    SF. S. LANCE
    PF. PAU G.
    C. G. MONROE

    BENCH:
    PG.K. MARSHALL/SORRY NASH
    SG. SHANNON BROWN/MEEKS
    SF. X. Henry/ or sign D. Granger
    PF. J. HILL
    C. BYNUM BRING HIM BACK

  • Coach’em Up

I think get a free agent PG like
    E.Bledsoe or S.Livingston in addition to retaining J.Farmar, K.Marshall, K,bazemore
then keep the 7th Pick draft Aaron Gordon or Zach Lavine priority 1 or 2
Make a run at L.Deng if too much $ go after D.Granger for less $
oh and basically retain the roster an free agents except for these players
    S.Nash, R.Sacre
people we may want but not be able to afford
    N.Young, J.Meeks, P.Gasol
