NBA Rumors: Houston Rockets To Pursue Carmelo Anthony In Free Agency
[new_royalslider id=”160″]

Heading into the upcoming NBA off-season, the biggest name on the free agent market could be superstar Carmelo Anthony. Although the potential hiring of Phil Jackson by the New York Knicks may alter Anthony’s decision this summer, the Houston Rockets will be ready and willing to sign the perennial All-Star if he becomes available according to Marc Berman of the New York Post:

“According to a league source, the Rockets will make a bid for Carmelo Anthony this summer, even though they probably won’t have cap space and would have to orchestrate a creative sign-and-trade. The source said Houston asked the Knicks about Anthony before February’s trade deadline.”

Along with the Rockets, the Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls will also come calling if Anthony elects to become an unrestricted free agent.

With Kobe Bryant recently saying that he wants the team to contend next season and the Lakers needing to make moves this summer, Anthony signing with the storied franchise could be a possibility. Mitch Kupchak and company will likely pursue Anthony with hoping of bringing him in to play alongside Kobe.

As for the Bulls, Joakim Noah has already reached out to Anthony claiming that Chicago is the place be to win championships rather than Los Angeles.

Despite strong interest from the Bulls, Rockets and Lakers, Anthony still needs to opt-out of his current deal with the Knicks in order to head elsewhere. With Jackson heading to New York and the culture bound to change, there’s no telling what will happen, but Anthony definitely has options if he decides to leave New York.
