NBA Rumors: Carmelo Anthony To Re-Sign With New York Knicks

Share on FacebookTweet about this on Twitter

UPDATE (1:31 PM PST): According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, Carmelo Anthony’s agent says a decision has not been made between the Lakers or Knicks:

The speculation has kicked into high gear with many anticipating decisions from superstars LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony on Wednesday or possibly Thursday.

According to Frank Isola of New York Daily News, Carmelo may have already made that decision:

A person close to Anthony told The News on Wednesday that barring a last minute change of heart Anthony will re-sign with the Knicks after “agonizing over this” for the past week.

After Carmelo met with the Los Angeles Lakers last week, the consensus was that the Knicks and Lakers were the frontrunners for his services. Anthony had apparently not ruled out any of the interested teams, but did have Los Angeles and New York atop his list of destinations.

Of course, Isola’s report is still only speculation with the source being a supposed friend of the superstar, but it wouldn’t be all that surprising if it turned out to be true. The Knicks were always considered to be in the lead to land Carmelo, but so many questions surround the immediate future of the squad in New York with Phil Jackson and company having little to work with in terms of upgrading the roster.

On Thursday, teams around the league can make deals with free agents official. LeBron James and Carmelo will likely announce their intentions either later today or at some point tomorrow.

LeBron is without a doubt the biggest name on the free agent market, but Carmelo is also considered a game-changer and a player that the Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and Lakers were hoping to bring in.

          • Jim213

LOL, that’s great news for the West and bad for Lebron. He won’t get the shot of winning more than 2-3 titles if the team happens to get that far.

      • Lakers Fan

We MIGHT can. I hope we do tho. They would be solid additions to the starting lineup.

      • Bravo

hope so man. just mad the lakers have missed out on the last 2 superstars. usually we end up with the superstars

      • cyborgspider

THIS x1000. Two young competitors for the price of one 30 year super scorer? Sign me up

        • smale45

The only superstar i wanted to see on the team was Lebron. Carmelo can go f himself. Selfish fuck boy,

      • jim2

The Lakers are not going to sign anyone of significance. It will be the worst season ever. The Lakers no longer have the FO necessary. LA fans will probably have to switch to the Clippers to see any real competitive basketball. The Lakers really need to hire Jerry West. It is more apparent now than ever.

        • Badazztj12

Are you even a Laker fan? I swear you have no confidence that we can get this shit turned around

        • i love lamp

“switch” to the clippers? yeah you dont bleed purple and gold, so there is the door and you can now leave.

        • CORKY CARROLL

I don’t agree, except for the Jerry West part. We need him and sooner than later.

        • Vince

jim2 yo clips you don’t belong here!

        • Al Haldie

Please go to the CLIPPERS – YOUR living in the LA FOG…

        • nlruizjr

the sky is falling, the sky is falling, get real look at the bright side, if we would of signed either Melo or LeBron they are at or about 30, do you want to really build a team around a 30 year old, where father time starts to take over and the injury bug starts to poke it’s ugly head, I think the Lakers are better off building around Randle, put a mix of vets and youth this season and then concentrate on 2015 for more talent, things aren’t as bleak as they seem, cheer up !!!!!

        • Dimas Maraggun

I always beleave that lakers will do whatever it takes for this season..

        • lakersforlife24

Your a dumb ass Laker fans never give up on their team no matter what. we aren’t some band wagoners.

        • smale45

lol. you have no idea what you’re talking about. Just because two superstar FA’s slipped out of Lakers hands, doesn’t mean they won’t be able to get solid players for their team.

      • ra

Knicks is a ‘broken’ franchise. Even with Phil there, it’s going to take a lot to resurrect that franchise.

If Melo returns to the Knicks, trust me, it will take 2 years for the Knicks to learn the Triangle. It’s not easy for players to learn.

Considerations for Melo are $$$, LALA (where would LALA be happiest?), Media (LA / NY), Championships, partnerships (w/Kobe), etc. It’s a mixed bag. If it’s just contract $$$, NY wins. idk if he will get to a Championship there, it’s been like .. what .. 40 years since the Knicks got there? And with new (and toxic) ownership, it’s been quite a circus for years. Media money might be bigger in LA – it’s ‘hollyweird’, after all.

LALA might have a big say in this. More TV reality shows out here, right? She can be on Basketball Wives of LA, etc., or whatever. Media glitz (and revenue from that) is big. Melo’s stock would go way up if he came here, and if Kobe is healthy, it will be a one-two punch (and add Gasol), a triad. Lakers would have their big 3, and Melo would be part of that.

I can see how it’s a tough decision for Melo.

        • TheZuluNation

I actually think the Knicks can turn it around. Melo must feel the same way and believe that Phil can help change the culture of the Knicks. I don’t think if Melo heads to NY he is doing it solely for the money like many are saying.

          • ra

ok, then what? I don’t see ‘championship’ in their future. The Triangle is ‘very hard’ to do, and to do right. Only Kobe & MJ (super-duper stars) and Shaq could get it going. Knicks have to offer much more than the ‘same’. We’ll see.

          • Dragon

He better make his decision by tomorrow so we still got time to get someone else before other team gets him. We don’t need superstar all the time we been through that before and sometimes it doesn’t work out.

          • smale45

yes. There are great young and hungry players out there. who come for a good price and show up.

          • TheZuluNation

How do you know “only” Kobe and Shaq could do it? There was a time when they had to learn the offense as well and as time went on they began to perfect it. Same thing will apply to NY. I’m not sayin’ NY will necessarily win a title, but they will be in conention for one in a few years or so at least. Phil has managed to trade Felton and Chandler already and is in talks w/ Philly to trade Amar’e and potentially Shumpert. That’s great stuff right there within a short amount of time.

    • meep

how can you say it another bad season when you havent even seen who the lakers will get

      • Bravo

as in bad season i mean were not contending for a championship. im spoiled by the lakers, so every season were not contending is a bad season imo

        • meep

well every good team cant be good for ever so lakers are in just another down period. they will be back and contending soon

          • Bravo

            true and hope so

        • cyborgspider

its not a guarantee they would’ve contended with Melo. They can be just as good or better with two all-around young defensive cheaper stars.

          • Bravo

very true. by signing melo though, lakers all of a sudden become a very attractive (basketball wise) to kevin love. love would then force wolves to do a sign and trade for randle and nash (plus fillers). all speculation but knowing the Lakers, they can pull off such a deal

          • Kenneth Simkins

It be a mistake to trade Randal!

    • Ryan Richards

And we don’t know who gonna be the coach..so it will be better than last season

    • Al Haldie

What are you talking about –wake up-now we can build a team – a good to great team..

      • Bravo

well see, i doubt a great team but good yes

    • Jim213

Wouldn’t necessarily say another bad season (last season was BAD) but if FO fails to act sooner rather than later (acquiring good role players for the starting rotation and bench) don’t expect a competitive team given FOs indecision’s.

      • Kenneth Simkins

What they have done so far is what they need to do! You can rush these things! Patience will get you the gold in the end!

        • Jim213

LOL, they should at least go after a PG. No point in waiting being Melo won’t be playing the 1.Disagree, better start sooner being the competition keeps improving their roster as in the end they’ll (FO) have to settle for D Leaguer’s and 2nd opportunity players again.

    • TheZuluNation

You must be a little kid. The Lakers have went through years like this before and eventually were able to build a contending team.

    • J Taylor

Not sure it would be the worst…
If Mitch could get Monroe and Stephenson, every position outside of wherever Kobe plays is under 25.

Nash’s Expiring contract will be very useful as a trade tool. It’s also a benefit that Rondo’s a free agent next year.

I trust Mitch… I also understand that building a team in the new CBA requires either 3 superstars, or a very deep roster of cheap homegrown talent.

      • Bravo

no i was talking about last season and up to this point

    • Jamal

I am 100% supremely confident Carmelo Anthony will pick his best friend Kobe Bryant and The Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers give him the best chance for winning since we have Kobe and Pau also with Julius Randle. And he still gets a max contract from The Lakers. It’s a great fit.

  • AC

thought so, like i said before it was either Bulls or Knicks, maybe with the Lakers right under. Oh well, let’s move on and start our offseason like NOW!!! Time to go for Bledsoe, Ariza, Okafor etc. and bring back the bench

    • Lakers Fan

I knew the Lakers shouldn’t have been waiting on him. Now that he has made his decision, teams will be moving fast to get the best players available.

    • Yo Mamma

No way Phoenix doesn’t match a Bledsoe offer. Ariza won’t come cheap. I’d like Stephenson but for the baggage that come’s with him along with his asking price, it might be too much to pay. I like Deng at that SF spot for about 3yr/$22mil. Isaiah Thomas can come at a good price also.

  • meep

that fine now lakers can get guys like bazemore, deng, ariza and thomas

    • Badazztj12

Sessions, Lance, and Kobe would be a good perimeter defensive team

      • TheZuluNation

Freakin’ Sessions should’ve stayed to begin with…

  • LakerSpartan117

Well that sucks…. thanks for wasting our time Melo..

  • Yo Mamma

Shoulda given Phil the FO job in the first place. SMH!

    • Samuel Wu

Shoulda given Phil the HC job in the first place. If they hired him as the coach instead of D’asstoni, the team would’ve made a great playoff run and Dwight would’ve stayed.

      • TheZuluNation

Should’ve given Phil whatever he wanted. You gotta bow down to a man like Phil.

        • 3339

Jim Buss can’t give Phil credit.

          • Ebony Ivory

The reason Phil not being hired was about jim. Phil and Jim always had a friction back in 2000′s. They even had a heated argument back in the locker room when they lost to NJ Nets. source – dad who works for lakers.

          • Laker Legend

correction buddy, lakers NEVER lost to the nets…Pistons, yes, NETS??? NO WAY DUDE…You are confused.

          • TheZuluNation

Nope, can’t let go of the ego. It’s very frustrating for Jeanie and Mitch and obviously for us as fans.

    • Kenneth Simkins

Actually the Lakers came so close to getting him because we do have Kobe and good people in the front office!

  • Lakers Fan

I guess Melo is going back to NY and LeBron is going back to Cleveland. I knew it was a long shot we would get Melo. Oh well. Now we can focus on building a TEAM. Bazemore and Henry needs to be resigned NOW. They need to make a push at Bledsoe and Isaiah Thomas as well to see which one they can get(although Bledsoe is my 1st choice). Ariza, Deng, and Parsons are the only good SFs available, so I’m hoping they snag one of them. The Lakers better move the ball FAST because those FAs and teams that was waiting on Melo will be looking to get the best FAs available.

  • http://people.ign.com/ltsjoemama ltsJoeMama

    Go after Lance Stephenson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • meep

so what no melo just give the lakers cap to sign more then one good player. or a few decent players and save cap for next season. either way lakers should be better next season

  • vdogg

    lance and bazemore…. like, NOW.

    • cyborgspider

      how about Isaiah Thomas too?

      • David

yes…We need isaih Thomas the put up the exact numbers chris paul did. Sign him up ASAP

        • meep

not really paul avg 10 assist thomas 6, but in scoring they were about the same and paul avg one more steal a game

        • TheZuluNation

Apprehensive on Thomas. Very small, can only score, doesn’t really have PG skills, and can’t really defend due to his size.

          • nlruizjr

you could probably say the same thing about CP, CP is not a dominant defender either but he has been successful as a PG, I think thomas falls into the same category.

          • TheZuluNation

Yeah I know about the defense part (there’s not many elite defensive PG’s and I’m not expecting one for the Lakers) but CP3 at least is a good decision maker and is more of a true PG. He’s one of the better passing PG’s also.

          • nlruizjr

yeah that’s true, but remember this is just I. Thomas’s 2nd -3rd, year and his decision making will improve with more experience, just as CP3′s did.

          • TheZuluNation

That’s true too. It would also help if Byron Scott is the coach.

          • nlruizjr

            yeah !

  • LakerDev

Now that the FO is done chasing pipe dreams, can we finally start finding players. Lets start w/Lance, see if Monroe can be plucked, IThomas sheesh

  • meep

so what going to happen lebron to the cavs, melo to the knicks ,bosh to the rockets and heat fun over.

  • TheTruth

Media sucks! All this is JUST speculation from a reporter for the NY Daily news. Of course he’s gonna say that Melo is gonna sign with the Knicks. Idiot… I mean Isola is a New Yorker. Just wait and see tomorrow where all these high profiled punks… I mean free agents. Thursday is the day where free agents can ink their signatures. To hell with all this media and their two-cent speculations!

  • X

SHOULD OF HIRED PHIL JACKSON WHEN YOU HAD THE CHANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • wangkon936

Can’t do that because Phil essentially wants Jim Buss’ job. That will never happen, at least not in the foreseeable future.

  • Fernando_85

    Mark Medina ‏@MarkG_Medina 2m

Source close to Carmelo Anthony insists “there is no decision yet.” Adds “still up in the air.”

  • meep

A source cautions to Howard Beck of Bleacher Report that Anthony has yet to render a decision, and the teams that have pursued him have received no definitive word

  • http://www.foxhilldesign.com Josh

If Melo styas, let’s Morey the Rockets and offer a poison pill contract to Chandler Parsons. Gasol, Randle, Parsons, Bryant, and maybe Lance? I haven’t thought much about the PG spot yet, but I’d be happy with this lineup.

    • Mikael Wihlborg

Sad to say that Parsons agreed to sign with the Mavs just now :(

  • Isaiah Leon

Finally! Now the Lakers need to stop screwing around start getting the guys we need. Re-sign Young, Hill, Bazemore, and Henry. Sign Trevor Ariza, Isaiah Thomas, and maybe a veteran guy like Caron Butler. Sign undrafted guard Deandre Kane (who is on our summer league roster) Sign another big man. And hire a damn coach already.

  • 3339

“and they said dantoni was the better fit”- PJ
I knew that move would bit LA in the ass and not only did we get a shitty coach, but now we lost out on big FAs.
Lakers need to get their shit together.

  • LakerSpartan117

More reports are coming out saying that “no decision has been made yet” from Adrain Woj. and Mark Medina

    • meep

i guess people just trying to make a good story we will see what really happens when melo finally signs with a team

      • LakerSpartan117

I still get the feeling that he will resign with the Knicks..I don’t want him to but its a feeling

        • meep

at this point i dont care if he comes. i hate the waiting game

          • LakerSpartan117

Same, but I hate thinking we have a chance only to be let down.

          • OG RiceBone

Well that article that said melo was going to re-sign was by a New Yorker… of course he would say that… idk about our chances tho

  • TRUTH24

LAKERS FRONT OFFICE ARE A BUNCH OF FUCKING IDIOTS. THEY HAVENT EVEN PICKED A COACH WHY IN THE HELL WOULD ANYONE WANT TO PLAY FOR THESE DUMBASSES

    • OG RiceBone

Not picking a coach was part of the pitch, they were going to let the players pick who they want to play for… mostly Kobe and Melo, if we got him.

  • Badazztj12

Funny how he got the media and ESPN talking like he was going to this place and that place. Why the fuck would you interview all of those teams and just go back to the Knicks. Superstars and players (including NFL) of today are a joke. They just all about the hype. Lance is our only hope for becoming a contender next season. At least he plays the game with passion and focuses his business on the court than off the court

    • OG RiceBone

Do you think Lance would probably sign for the very least 10-12 mil?

  • BrownMamba24

Phil is gonna ruin Melos prime. So dumb man. You literally have no one. We could be good and good now with our cap space. But the Knicks have to wait one more year. Go ahead and ruin your precious time. I would have rather him go to the bulls than those knickerbockers. I mean when’s the last time they won a ring. We are constantly finding ways to put ourselves in a sting position to compete. We’ll now onto lance and hopefully Monroe and Isaiah(they are restricted)

    • kookiebuger

Melo would have a 2 year title window with the Lakers it wouldn’t have been much better in LA.

      • Badazztj12

In 2 years, Kobe contract will be off the books and we have all that cap space to get a superstar that year. If Kobe decides to stay I know Jim not gonna make that same mistake again

        • wangkon936

Excellent point that most Lakers fans forget because they are impatient as f*ck. And the 2016 FA market is gonna be killer (Durant, DeRozen, etc.)!

  • LaZkYcs

Phil – you ain’t getting #6 with me in the league kobe!

  • vdogg

phil — you are NEVER getting sex again.

    - jeanie

  • DKWTTY

    Great job Mitch and Jim!

    • vdogg

give ‘em a break. they did all they could. if he doesn’t want to be a laker, he doesn’t want to be a laker. it’s not for everyone.

      • DKWTTY

These last few seasons have just been a bust and disappointing. Look at the bum Celtics racking up draft picks and all these other teams making moves and we are doing/accomplishing nothing.

        • Badazztj12

          You ain’t bullshitting

  • vdogg

everyone needs to calm down. so melo didn’t come — i’m bummed, too. but we move on. there are plenty of FAs still available. mitch knows what he is doing. trust him.

  • meep

if melo really signs with the knicks, lakers should get lance and thomas so they can be good not just now but in the future when kobe done. clarkson, randle, lance and thomas are 4 good pieces to build for the future

  • Badazztj12

    Sessions
    Lance
    Kobe
    Randle
Gasol or sign and trade Gasol for Hibbert
    Marshall/Clarkson
    Swaggy P
    X Henry
    Jordan Hill or Ed Davis
    Scare
A good defensive coach would get this team to compete

    • meep

unless they get nate who else is defensive coach. once this is all over i think scott will be name coach

      • Badazztj12

At least he is a defensive coach and could develop our PG’s. Maybe even Lance he tweener.

    • wangkon936

Sessions. Now that’s an idea! That guy can start in this league and he will probably not be expensive!

  • LakerSpartan117

Melo’s agent just told ESPN that “no decision has been made on Lakers/Knicks”. A dozen other reports said the same.

So everyone shit talking the Lakers FO right now.. CHILL… It ain’t over

  • AK

can we start going after guys now, lance, bledsoe, monroe, swaggy p all still out there for us to pick up

    • meep

thomas i can see the lakers having a better chance at then bledsoe.

      • AK

bledsoe is miles better than thomas, all thomas does is drive to the basket he isnt even a good facilitator nor does he play any defense at all

        • meep

6 assist is pretty decent to me and he can score. something marshall couldnt do and farmar and nash were too hurt to do

          • Badazztj12

At least Marshall don’t get hurt like Bledsoe, Famar, and Nash. Marshall Is a pass-first pg, not a scoring one

          • AK

also completely invisiable on defense with no awareness whats so ever, incase no one saw the playoffs DEFENSE WINS

          • Badazztj12

We don’t know how he gonna play this year. He aleady said he will be improving his game this season. We gonna find out Friday. Cant play defense if your top pg is always injuried

          • AK

he isnt gonna get better that quick, every pg can pass he cant do much else he’s a lost cause you’re crazy if you would take him or thomas over bledsoe. Once again defense wins chips and until the lakers start bringing in more defensive minded players they arnt going to do anything.

          • Badazztj12

When did I say he was better than Bledsoe and Isaiah? We also don’t how is work ethic is. Since we talking about defense when was Isaiah was known ever known for defense? Its takes more than passing the ball to be a pass-first pg. You have to always know what type of defense they playing, and how you gonna get that pass there. You must don’t watch Nash, Jason Kidd (when he was playing), Rondo, or Chris Paul. Shooting can develop over time. Defense can be improve, it depends on his work ethic

          • AK

we dont have time to wait for all that and thats a big IF , if he even develops. They need bledsoe right now and if not thomas than cause marshall or nash arnt gonna do anything for us this season if they start.

          • Badazztj12

I already know Marshall not gonna start dude. You talking like he cant produce for team. Bledsoe has big IF also. How can he keep his health together and don’t go down like he did last season. Isaiah has speed but guys can shoot over him for being so short. I would rather go after Ramon Sessions. He worked great with Kobe when Mike Brown was Kobe and he is only entering his prime years

          • AK

the same ramon sessions who disapears during the playoffs? lol smh come on now just crazy homer talk.. bledsoe got injured who cares kobe did to , players recover. There is no comparison in the talent bledsoe and thomas have to sessions, they are better at all aspects of the game than him.

          • Badazztj12

That because Bledsoe is not Kobe. By the way it was his first playoffs experience (which was 2 years ago). Lol I want to go after Sessions because he is a realtic option next to Lance (if we get him). All aspects of the game I know they could help a team out but damn you kinda are overrating them. Bledsoe is like another Westbrook with has a inconsistent shot. Like I said before Isaiah has speed (so does Sessions) but his size will be bad for defense. Do you even watch these guys play?

          • AK

thats why i want isiah as the second option but him and sessions are about the same on defense cause sessions is lazy

          • Badazztj12

            Size does make a difference

          • meep

but lakers need someone who can shoot and pass, something like every good PG does

      • Badazztj12

If the suns don’t match his offer. They already have a nice pg in Tyler Ennis. They would draft him for no reason

  • BrownMamba24

What the fuck man. Melo stop playing with my emotions. I’m done with them mixed signals. New York daily and Adrian woj saying your staying. But then your agent says you have not decided. Or is he saying that for us fans to be even more devastated. Honestly I’m just going to ignore whatever media people say and wait till tomorow. If You still can’t decide then I’m crying and we should move on. I’m sure everyone is sick of it by now. But I still want you

  • Badazztj12

Frank Isola of the New York Daily News reported on Carmelo Anthony’s thought-process:

Carmelo Anthony is prepared to spend the prime years of his career in New York, the Daily News has learned.

A person close to Anthony told The News on Wednesday that barring a last minute change of heart Anthony will re-sign with the Knicks after “agonizing over this” for the past week.

“He will have something for everybody on Thursday,” said the friend who was with Anthony before Anthony’s scheduled workout with Kevin Durant and Kevin Love in Los Angeles on Wednesday. “He is really torn because this is the biggest decision of his career. But he wants to get it done in New York. He told me he believes in Phil.”

  • Brandon A. Benitez

This could just be me but doesn’t this remind you of the time last year when the word just got out that Dwight chose Houston then he comes out saying I haven’t made my decision yet so don’t believe the report then two hours later he posted that fucking pic on Instagram “Houston we have lift off”
    What a shit show

    • guest

      HA.

  • BrownMamba24

Idk man who are these sources? Honestly because they suck if the agent is saying otherwise. But either way we have enough money for several solid fa

    • Badazztj12

      Its on Bleacher Report

  • carew10

thomas, ariza, bazemore, johnson, young, hill and gasol(7 millions max if he wants)!

  • nash screwed the lakers

Eric Pincus @EricPincus about 13 minutes ago

Last year @Sam Amick had Howard going to Rockets – immediately followed by heavy denials out of Dwight’s camp that decision was made yet…

Yup, same thing happening here. Agent denies reports.

    • LakerSpartan117

So you are saying he’s going back to NY?

      • Fernando_85

        Yeap, 100%

        • LakerSpartan117

Slight problem with that comparison…. the better basketball situation was in Houston for Dwight, hence him leaving the same amount of money Melo’s been offered on the table. $129 Mill.

The basketball situation with the Lakers is way better than the one with the Knicks next season. You really think Melo is going to want to suffer a lottery type of season next year in NY? I don’t.

          • kookiebuger

You’re being biased think for a second the East is extremely weak and can easily make the playoffs next year, the Lakers have a 2 year title window with Kobe and Melo that’s if Kobe can stay healthy and play at an elite level which are big if’s for a 35 year old man going on 36 coming off a major injury who hasn’t played in about a year in the half.

          • LakerSpartan117

I thought you wanted Melo? Now you’re rooting for him to go back to the East? GOD no consistency.

          • kookiebuger

            I don’t care for Melo.

          • LakerSpartan117

There are literally posts of you making all these lineups with Kobe, Thomas, and Melo. Or Lebron.. All of them included Melo

          • kookiebuger

I never did that, I talked about rebuilding and LeBron and Melo being longshots.

          • LakerSpartan117

Oh and of course I’m biased! I’m a Laker Fan smart one! I only cheer for one team.

  • AC

oh yeah…. WHERE THE HELL IS OUR COACH FOR NEXT SEASON?!?!?!?!

  • Ray-Marcus

Its all good…now we need to pursue Isiah Thomas, Lance and Pau

  • Menard reyes

Remember their is no news from Kobe Bryant about Carmelo until now. So never hope that Melo will be a Laker.

    • vdogg

      HUH?

  • Lakers Rebuilding

Cool have fun never winning a ring and being on a mediocre team. You had a chance to win and be great in LA but it appears not. Your loss

  • Spade

    R.I.P to the pipe dreams
    R.I.P to Mitch’s reputation
    R.I.P to Kobe’s title window
Throw some more dirt on Jim Buss’ resume

Mitch said we were going all in. For what exactly? All aboard for the rebuild. I hope Kobe enjoys being regulated to a circus side show. Step right up and watch the amazing Kobe shoot 30 shots per game in an attempt to score 50. Also, check out the amazing Rebounding Randle.

    • Redemption Rain

Yep we have to wake up and get rid of this pipe dream of thinking.

  • sena

lakers wil be always a lakers means that can trade anyone if they wanna.believe it orn not.we are the greatest team of all time.we lost dwight and couldn’t get cp3 they didn’t let us get him.lebron or melo no matter who will be but i am honestly sure about that one will land in LA .just wait and see if not melo so lebron will be lakers.u all guys don’t even know lakers!

    • rival

And you don’t make sense! Read your shit before you post it!

      • sena

u will see who is wrong, guy.i’m a turkish person i live in turkey but u don’t know lakers better than be.u tell me who thought lakers would sign with dwight howard or nash?

        • OG RiceBone

We’re pretty sure people who live in LA know the Lakers better than you… They are our team!

    • Spade

This isn’t a situation where we beat on our chest and say “we’re the Lakers damn it” and all of our problems magically go away. Get on board for the rebuild now.

  • rival

If we don’t get melo, the worst thing we can do is start signing other top freeagents and ruin our cap space for next year. We are better off with a bunch of one year contracts, I doubt guys like lance Deng bledsoe Monroe……. Will sign one year deals.

    • Spade

I’m fine with Bledsoe. He can be a young franchise cornerstone to team up with Randle. It’s about 5 years from now not next summer. Why chase ghost every summer when Jim and Mitch have proven they can’t get anything done?

    • Jim213

?! Deng’s seeking higher pay aside of long term deals.

    • Badazztj12

Lance just want more money (12 mil 4 years) Deng he maybe going to hawks. Monroe staying with Pistons because they said they will match any offer. We could get Sessions who will be a cheap option. Resign Hill, Young, X, and Gasol or sign and trade for Hibbert. I swear why all you quiting because we don’t sign Melo. Fuck Melo.

      • rival

Who’s quitting? Why you always adding shit to mine and other people’s comments?

        • Badazztj12

I add my comments to everyone comments. Its a Blog

      • Spade

A lot of people are having trouble with embracing the inevitable. The Lakers are rebuilding now and Kobe’s championship window has been shut for good. No one is quitting, they’re just having trouble accepting our current predicament.

        • LakerSpartan117

I really doubt Kobe will allow his last years to be spoiled by sub 500. seasons. I believe he will resign after his contract is up and give it one last try. His window doesn’t shut until he closes it.

          • kookiebuger

You want Kobe to resign at 38 years old?

          • Badazztj12

            Duncan still playing

          • kookiebuger

Duncan is a PF/C, Kobe will be playing younger, quicker guards.

          • LakerSpartan117

If Duncan, Dirk, and the fucker Steve Nash are playing at 40… Then damn right I do

          • kookiebuger

Big men don’t rely on speed to be play in the league, guards need to be quick and able to defend Nash can’t do that, he can’t even play 15 games Do you want Kobe to end up the same way?

          • Spade

Sometimes players have their windows shut for them. If we aren’t good enough we get beat. Kobe has no control over that.

        • Badazztj12

Rebuilding? With these FA’s still out there and the amount of cap space we have? Lol I swear man

          • meep

we have about 28 mill in cap space the 6th most. i think lakers will do well, unlike last season were we had little to none and had to get everyone for cheap

          • Badazztj12

            Exactly man thanks

          • Spade

Cap space is only as good as the players it’s spent on. The team you proposed in your previous comment wouldn’t even make the playoffs in the west. And even if we did make the playoffs we’d get slaughtered in round 1. What do we gain from that? Rebuilding is a better option than over paying for C+ players and wallowing around in mediocrity. You’re either a legit contender or in a rebuild. Being a fringe playoff team doesn’t get you anywhere.

  • SELL THE TEAM

The buss family killed the organization already time and time again the last straw was letting phil Jackson go and not putting him in a upper executive position with the Lakers just sell the team already . when did free agent run the Lakers fuckin bullshit stop waiting fill the roster and work on your own free agents before they all leave and sign hill ,let gasol walk period LAKERS4LIFE !! MARK MY WORDS LAKERS WILL OVER SPEND FOR SCRUBS NOW GOOD JOB JIM AND JEANIE BUSS WHAT CLOWNS WE NEED MAGIC JOHSON TOO WORK HIS MAGIC AND BUY THIS TEAM HELP US DUDE WE NEED IT BAD

    • meep

well if you really think about it the best players left are the ones who will sign once the melo lebron stuff over so really lakers only lost out to gortat and the rest were decent but maybe a little over paid

      • OG RiceBone

        especially Meeks, terribly overpaid

  • GOD Chri$$$
  • sena

    this is only a RUMOR.

  • MambaNation

Good this team is kobe’s team forever. no one is worthy to be the face of the franchise other than kobe. Melo and Lebron can fuck off and lose some more on the none competitive side of the country. Go slack off and be out of shape. Is already i am waiting. My lakers is gonna look way better than the Knicks and which ever team LeCramp going to take his Crampain to.

Keep your heads up LakersNation. Remember what the Mamba said. “Vengeance is sweet”

    • meep

knicks might not be a great team but they do have some nice pieces.

    • Brandon A. Benitez

Word up we gonna show em they made a mistake for not seeing our vision. Laker nation till we die

    • Spade

Eventually Kobe will have to pass the torch.

  • mattyb

Looks like its back to the Draft lottery for the lakers.

    • Spade

It’s a good thing our pick next year is top 5 protected. We’ll be needing it.

  • GOD Chri$$$
  • rival

Props to Kobe and as much as I hate the spurs props to Tim Duncan. These guys never did this kind of freeagent shit, joining forces taking paycuts or having a press conference to announce there decisions. Bron and melo can win as many rings as they want but they’ll never be in the same breathe as guys like magic worthy and Kobe who only played for one team.
