Kevin Love has been one of the most talked about players over the past few weeks despite not making the playoffs. All signs have pointed to Love wanting out of Minnesota. With Love becoming a free agent after next season, many believe that the Timberwolves will be forced to trade the star forward or risk losing him for nothing next off-season.

Despite this possibility, the Timberwolves have continued to say that the team will not trade Kevin Love, and according to the Minnesota Star-Tribune’s Jerry Zgoda, team president Flip Saunders still plans on Love being in Minnesota:

Love has made no secrets about his wish to be in the playoffs, which he has yet to do in his first six seasons with the team. The Timberwolves are surely hoping to make some moves and show Love that he can succeed in Minnesota, but they could be taking a huge risk in doing so.

The fact that there is a ‘feeding frenzy’ going on for Love right now shows how much teams value the All-Star power forward. There have been a number of teams believed to have interest in Love including the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, Washington Wizards, and Sacramento Kings.

The more teams bidding for Love, the more the price will rise in order to pry him away from Minnesota, which doesn’t bode well for the Lakers who don’t have much to offer. Saunders may intend on keeping Love with the team, but if the team struggles early and the right deal comes along, he may need to pull the trigger on a trade.

Good, keep the pick and rebuild and try to get him next offseason there is no point in trading for a player who won’t sign an extension (you can thank new CBA for that).

They really need a defensive C next to kevin love and a good coach

I AM HOPING THIS IS TRUE so we can KEEP THE PICK AND LET NASH MENTOR HIM then trade gasol(10mil) and ariza(7-8mil) for boozer(amn) and jimmy butler then maybe if embiid is healthy trade our 2019 and 2021 picks for him after draft night then hill and diaw at the 4 and embiid(or asik, kaman not sacre(3rd center). SMART,farmar, nash,KOBE,lance(doubt coz he will likely choose to stay with indy tocompete while getting much money around 10-12mil per year)swaggyp, xavier,J.BUTLER,baze, joe harris,hill,diaw,EMBIID/asik/dalembert/kaman gortat would be good but he hates the lakers then wait for 2016 sign love amd get a defensive minded big man who cares about defense and rebounding and backup big man who knows how to defense and score …love strength is offense and reb, thats why a big man(def and reb) and another backup(offense and defense)…though there are some cons like chemistry …either sacrifice the pick and sign some assets for love or keep the pick and develop him ….i am hoping for a core that SG/C/PF or SG/C/PG or SG/SF/PF

Kb24, how do you plan on doing all the above on 25mil ???? keep in mind that Kobe, Nash and Sacre already taking up about 36mil !!!!!

      A. No team is going to trade first round picks that many years in the future for a player that’s being drafted THIS year without some serious player(s) in return. You see draft picks traded for players and picks either that season, or very, very near. A top 3 pick this year is worth tons more than first round picks 5-7 years from now.

      B. Gasol is a free agent. He is probably not going to do a sign and trade when he could just sign outright and not take anything away from his new team. Also, I don’t see Ariza wanting to sign and be traded either. Why would he sign with a NEW team just to be traded away?

      C. Asik is a free agent in 2015, and I’m sure he’ll want to return to a starting role (which the Lakers can offer him if we don’t re-sign Pau). I don’t see why he’d sign with a team to be a back up after being pushed aside by Dwight.

      D. Dalembert? Diaw? Why would we go after players in their mid 30′s again? We need youth.

      E. Why would we wait until 2016 for Love when he could be a free agent in 2015?

      F. My brain hurts.

Draft Smart, sign Deng, re-sign some of our role players, and sign a center to a 1 year deal (2 if he’s willing to play backup next season). Then, in 2015, sign Kevin Love and Omer Asik. Bam. We’ve got scoring, defense, and plenty of intensity.

FLIP IS PLAYING MIND GAMES…HIS MINDSET IS VERY SIMPLE YOU WANT TO GET LOVE,THEN OVERPAY FOR HM…..he said that if they were to tade love, they would be better …..that is the secret message, he does not want to look like a seller, the picture he wants is that a lot of teams want k.love so it will be like a bidding event just like what happened to clips which is sold for 2b$ but sterling only spent 10-15m$ to bought it…..he said that he wants kevin to stay in public, if other teams are really high on him they will try to make the best offer for love which is good for fllip ala kg,pierce, terry to bkn deal
