NBA News: Houston Rockets Looking to Move Luis Scola; Lakers Interested?

By | June 30, 2012|

After the Houston Rockets failed to land Dwight Howard on draft day, they’re once again looking for a serviceable big man to bring in. The team has tried multiple times to land a replacement big since Yao Ming was forced to retire. Houston had a trade completed last December for Lakers forward Pau Gasol before it was vetoed by David Stern.

Rumor has it Houston is still interested in Gasol, and is looking to deal Luis Scola and possibly other pieces in exchange for him. After drafting Royce White and Terrence Jones in the draft earlier this week, it seems that Houston is ready to part ways with Scola.

According to Kurt Helin of NBA Pro Basketball Talk, the team is looking to get out of basketball purgatory.

It’s the right thing to do. The Rockets have been locked in NBA’s middle ground. Not bad, fighting for a low payoff seed, getting a nice but not great draft pick, having some nice players but no All-Stars. Rinse. Lather. Repeat.

If the team is looking to add a player like Gasol, Los Angeles will require more than just Scola. It may also involve other pieces, with one player in particular that may perk the Lakers’ interests. That would be point guard Kyle Lowry, who has been linked to Los Angeles in trade rumors before.

Luis Scola and K. Lowry for Pau Gasol and Steve Blake, that I agree.

Kyle Lowry + Luis Scola? Man you’ve got to be kidding me.
I don’t expect the lakers to make any moves come July 1, 2012.
Kobe needs to take a paycut and they need to let Byum go. Then we
can start talking about getting some real good players in Purle n’ Gold.

Just watch the Clipppers continue to stack up and look more and more like the Heat.

Jeremy Lamb is key in this trade I think this kid can be the Lakers future. Kobe is getting no younger in we can start Lamb at the 3 now or bring him off the bench for some much needed help in that department. Terrance Jones is 6’9 150 pounds he can play the 3 or 4 spot he can hit the 15 footer and he even showed 3 point range but the best part of this kids game is his versatility. He’s a great athlete that’s to strong for a 3 down low he has really good footwork and has an amazon first step that will blow him right pass a bigger slower defender he can really spread the deffence for Bynum. Jones is a lefty but he reminds me of a bigger stronger Paul Pierce he can also be one of the guys that may get a shot at the starting 3 spot next year. Houston said there’s nothing on the Lakers roster that’s worth K.Lowry so fine we want to get younger, faster and have some awesome help off the bench.K.Lowry cant defend Westbrook or Parker anyway so we don’t need him we want him what we need is  bench depth right now we can get a vetaren pointguard in F/A .I think this is the right move for the Lakers we can take care of the future and add much needed young athletic depth to our roster with this trade. Lakers get J.Lamb,L.Scola,T.Jones,and maybe K.Martin. Houston gets P.Gasol and S.Blake

Scola to Bynum straight-up. Scola wants to win and a veteran. Need not to say anymore to the other one.
