The San Antonio Spurs were able to exact revenge on the Miami Heat with their five game domination in this year’s NBA Finals. This victory will erase the stain of the Spurs’ gut-wrenching seven-game loss in last year’s Finals.

The Spurs held their championship parade yesterday in San Antonio, during which head coach Gregg Popovich was seen counting his championships in what looks to be a little dig at the Miami Heat.

Everyone remembers the massive celebration the Heat threw in response to the signings of LeBron James and Chris Bosh. Most people will never forget James proclaiming that he wanted to win ‘not one, not two, not three, not four…’ NBA titles.

Now here is Popovich, counting his ‘not three, not four’ but five titles. Popovich has cemented himself as one of the greatest coaches in the history of the NBA and his name will be mentioned alongside the greats like Pat Riley, Red Auerbach, and Phil Jackson. He has earned the right to celebrate in any way he sees fit.

Was he counting when last year. Hell no! That’s what people do when things go their way.

    • keenanjen

      He still has five lol

    • Chrmngblly

Five rings is not luck. Now we need to hire one of his assistants to coach in LA.

  • David

It’s good to see Pop being relaxed and joking around for once: i would have thought he sold his soul for the chance to win and this is why he looked so miserable.

    • Tune

I’ll never understand the perception of Pop. Anybody can easily tell he’s a guy that likes to have fun, but knows business is business. Can’t be a party all the time. Just like with Phil and how serious he was, but he had a fun side too.

      • Lakers Realist

Personally I think it’s hilarious the way he deals with in-game interviews. He’s got a good sense of humor, it just flies over most people’s heads.

        • Linkdeville

Right on. Pop is too saavy for the reporters to give him a decent report. They take the simplest digs and make them appear as though he is a jerk.

    Gotta love Pop :D

    • Linkdeville

No doubt! Pop is the GCOAT!

  • Linkdeville

The 1st time I saw someone count the rings was when MJ did it. I see no taunting here. All I see is the GCOAT saluting the greatest fans in the world…great job Spurs. Let’s get it right Laker Nation!

    this was awesome

  • Lakers4Life

Pop earned every right to count rings or do whatever he wants to stroke his ego. He’s a great coach that will be remembered in NBA history.
Wish Lakers had a coach like him…he’s dead serious during games and the players listen and respect him. But he also has that playable side, which makes a good balance.

IKR, no one ever question Phil Jackson about his huge ego

Laker Nation, what the fuck are you talking about? How in the fuck did you interpret Pop was throwing a dig at the Heat? Pop is one of the most respectful coaches out there. He was yucking it up to the cameras. The Heat are farthest from his mind, I guarantee it. The crap you come up with.

Laker’s need to hire Marc Jackson. 3rd. best defense in the entire NBA last season, & one of the highest scoring offenses too. Players love and respect him like no other. He lives in LA, and truly is the best coach out their besides Phil, who’s rather busy right now. So Lakers go with a proven great coach. It’s time Jimbo did something correct for once.

Congrats Spurs won, which will ease the stain, but there is no way to erase the past Pop;(
