The San Antonio Spurs were able to exact revenge on the Miami Heat with their five game domination in this year’s NBA Finals. This victory will erase the stain of the Spurs’ gut-wrenching seven-game loss in last year’s Finals.
The Spurs held their championship parade yesterday in San Antonio, during which head coach Gregg Popovich was seen counting his championships in what looks to be a little dig at the Miami Heat.
Everyone remembers the massive celebration the Heat threw in response to the signings of LeBron James and Chris Bosh. Most people will never forget James proclaiming that he wanted to win ‘not one, not two, not three, not four…’ NBA titles.
Now here is Popovich, counting his ‘not three, not four’ but five titles. Popovich has cemented himself as one of the greatest coaches in the history of the NBA and his name will be mentioned alongside the greats like Pat Riley, Red Auerbach, and Phil Jackson. He has earned the right to celebrate in any way he sees fit.
