After an unsuccessful stint overseas that ended prematurely, Lamar Odom was given one more shot in the NBA with Phil Jackson reaching out and signing the veteran forward to contract with the New York Knicks.

Unfortunately, things didn’t work out as planned for the two-time NBA champion with the Knicks waiving Odom on Friday, according to Real GM:

Odom’s problems off the court had became public knowledge last year. Odom was said to be abusing drugs and ultimately saw his marriage to reality star Khloe Kardashian fall apart as a result.

With Jackson taking over in New York, there seemed to be no better person in the NBA to help turning things around for the former Sixth Man of the Year. Although Odom was still considered a project after unsuccessful stints with the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers, Jackson was willing to take a chance that simply didn’t pan out for whatever reason.

Now that the Knicks have parted ways with Odom, it’ll be interesting to see if his NBA career is officially over or if another team like the Los Angeles Lakers would take a chance on the veteran forward.

People Phil was not Lamar Odom’s answer. That door closed for a bigger reason then the world could ever understand. God is the only one that open’s and close doors. God allow this to happen so only he could get the glory. If this door would not have closed then Phil would have gotten the glory for Lamar’s success. GOD said NO. So if given another chance with NBA Lamar will only owe GOD glory. Phil does not have the last word. So when GOD opens the next door MAN will not be able to close it. Lamar has a good heart he just made a mistake just like you or me or anybody. Now world wait and see what door GOD opens for him. The world my think he is out but GOD has another plan.
