NBA Draft: Who are the Lakers Looking at with a Top 10 Pick?

By | June 28, 2012|

With the current collective bargaining agreement punishing high-spending teams like the Lakers, the Lakers are now looking to cut salaries, but maintain talent through this year’s extremely deep draft.

With rumors swirling around the Lakers attempts to moving Pau Gasol for a top 10 pick, the fans have been wondering who the Lakers are targeting with that pick. We take a look at who could be the next start to wear the purple & gold.

1. Michael Kidd Gilchrist | Kentucky Freshman | 6’8″ 233lbs | SF

An extremely athletic small forward who has been a winner at every level he’s played at. LA Times beat writer, Mike Bresnahan, has reported that he is the Lakers no. 1 target if they are able to attain a high enough draft pick.

2. Harrison Barnes | North Carolina Sophomore | 6’8″ 228lbs | SF

Would be a great fit for the Lakers, who are looking for a shooter to help spread the floor for Andrew Bynum. Extremely long with good feet and above average athleticism, Barnes would definitely excel in a system where Kobe and Drew create the room for him to drain open shots. Definitely has the basketball IQ to adapt quickly to the pro game as well as the experience from a top notch program like North Carolina.

3. Thomas Robinson | Kansas Junior | 6’9″ 244lbs | PF

With the loss of Pau Gasol to attain this pick, the Lakers are going to have to get a power forward to cover the four spot who brings a high level of energy to help clean up the boards behind Andrew Bynum. Robinson has that motor, the power and the athleticism that is infectious amongst his teammates. Also coming from Kanasa will help Robinson adjust to the pro game at a faster rate.

My hope is for both Austin Rivers and MKG, but either is fine. Just hope that we get a top 10 pick.

The # 1 need for the Lake Show is to have a kid ready to take the crown of king of the team & city when the Mamba loses it… That means they need him NOW since as it took Kobe, it will take at least two years to fill those shoes….
Forget who fits in with Kobe or Drew or Browns game plans, they need a future guy when Drew & Pau & World & Blake & McWorthless are all gone…. They need another Kobe & if you look at the team Kobe started with & the team now you will understand what I am saying….The Lake show NEEDS to trade their tradable assets NOW!!!!!! in order to draft the right players for the future & that will NOT be done by getting 30 year old high paid players other teams don’t want. You will NOT get a new Kobe by trading our players him him, forget it. Trading for players will not work now in 2012 with the new contract coming in 2014…..They need to trade Drew for a Monroe type player, Pau, World, Blake, McRoberts for NOTHING BUT 1st rund draft picks period the end….It will not only get them the players they NEED but will at the same time SLASH the payroll all in one….

Why is this topic sitting at the top of this sight. The draft went down already….this is like walking into your bosses office and handing him an important report 2 days after the deadline…it shouldn’t be here as it has no relevance any longer, even as an archived topic.
