Metta World Peace Enjoys Newly Dubbed ‘Peace Corps’ Nickname

With a newly reloaded bench the Los Angeles Lakers aren’t the team that we have grown accustomed to seeing over the past several years. There are a myriad of new faces on the list of reserves that are either new to the team or haven’t spent much time as a reserve in the past.

New head coach Mike Brown gave Metta World Peace the role of leader of the reserves, essentially replacing his friend and former teammate Lamar Odom after L.O. was traded to the Dallas Mavericks.

The reserves are starting to find their niche on the team with World Peace at the helm. This had us release a poll to the fans last week asking for a new nickname for the team’s bench mob.

Now it seems that the nickname that was chosen, the Peace Corps, is one that World Peace himself is actually fond of. According to Mark Medina of the L.A. Times the former Ron Artest stated he liked the nickname quite a bit, even if it wasn’t what he would have selected.
