Last week, the Harold Pump Foundation, threw an event that honored legendary Laker, Jerry West, along with Marcus Allen and Brian J. Dunn. We were lucky enough to be invited and had the chance to talk with as many legends as we possibly could.
The day started with a Golf Tournament at the Rancho Golf Club in Santa Clarita, CA and concluded with a Gala at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles, CA. The list of athletes and celebrities read like a who’s who: Mike Tyson, Jeremy Piven, President Vicente Fox, Magic Johnson, Jim Brown, Lakers Head Coach Mike Brown, George Lopez, Ronnie Lott, Julius Erving, Oscar Robertson, Gale Sayers, Sugar Ray Leonard, Tommy Lasorda, Jerry Rice, James Worthy, Warren Moon, Kevin Garnett, Barry Bonds, Pete Rose, Rod Carew, Clyde Drexler, Deacon Jones, Tony Gwynn, Randall McDaniel, Eric Dickerson, Candace Parker, Michael Irvin, Marshall Faulk.
Yes, we thought the same thing – HOLY WOW!
In order to pull this caliber of athletes and celebrities into one room, the cause must have been truly great, which it really is in the Harold Pump Foundation.
Started in 200 by twin brothers Dana and David Pump in memory of their father Harold, the Harold Pump Foundation has given more than $4.7 million toward the treatment and prevention of cancer and benefits the Harold and Carole Pump Department of Radiation Oncology, the Carole Pump Women’s Center and the Thomas and Dorothy Leavey Cancer Center at Northridge Hospital Medical Center. The amount of charity raised will help develop new technology for cancer screening and treatment as well as educational programs for the undeserved and uninsured.
